1. Harley Race defeated Johnny Weaver in a tournament final to win the title.
2. The title was vacated when Johnny Valentine ended his career in a plane crash on October 4, 1975.
3. Terry Funk defeated Paul Jones in a 16-man tournament to win the title.
4. The title was vacated when Ric Flair won the NWA World tag team title on August 12, 1979.
5. Jimmy Snuka defeated Ricky Steamboat in a 12-man tournament final.
6. The title was vacatred in September of 1981 when Wahoo McDaniel was injured by Abdullah The Butcher.
7. Sgt. Slaughter defeated Ricky Stemaboat in a tournament final to win the title.
8. The title was awarded to Sgt. Slaughter when Wahoo McDaniel was injured.
9. The title was vacated in July of 1984 because of Tully Blanchard's interference in the title change to McDaniel.
10. Wahoo McDaniel defeated Manny Fernandez in a tournament final to win the title.
11. The title was stripped from Magnum TA on May 29, 1986 for attacking NWA President, Bob Geigel.
12. Nikita Koloff defeated Magnum TA in a Best-out-of-7 Series. Nikita Koloff defeated Wahoo McDaniel on September 28, 1986 to unify the NWA National Heavyweight title.
13. The title was vacated on April 15, 188 when Dusty Rhodes was suspended for attacking Jim Crockett.
14. Barry Windham defeated Nikita Koloff in a 7-man tournament final to win the title.
15. The title was renamed the WCW United States Heavyweight Title in January of 1991 when the NWA ceased to exist. Lex Luger then vacated the title on July 14, 1991 after winning the WCW World Heavyweight title.
16. Sting defeated Steve Austin in a tournament final to win the title.
17. Rick Rude vacated the title in December of 1992 because of an injury.
18. Dustin Rhodes defeated Ricky Steamboat in a tournament final to win the title. The title was held-up after a match against Rick Rude in May of 1993.
19. Dustin Rhodes defeated Rick Rude in a rematch. WCW withdrew from the NWA in September of 1993.
20. Steve Austin was awarded the title when Ricky Steamboat was injured and unable to compete in the title match.
21. Vader was stripped of the title on April 23, 1995 by WCW commissioner, Nick Bockwinkle.
22. Sting defeated Meng in a tournament final to win the title.
23. The title was awarded to One Man Gang when Sasaki vacated the title after defending it against One Man Gang.
24. The title was vacated in November of 1996 when Flair was injured.
25. Eddie Guerrero defeated Diamond Dallas Page in a tournament final to win the title.
26. Bill Goldberg vacated the title after winning the WCW World Heavyweight Title on July 6, 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia.
27. Bret Hart defeated Diamond Dallas Page to win the title.
28. Scott Hall was stripped of the title by WCW President, Ric Flair, on March 18, 1999 due to an injury.
29. Scott Steiner defeated Booker T in a tournament final to win the title. Scott Steiner was stripped of the title on July 5, 1999.
30. The title was awarded to David Flair by WCW President, Ric Flair.
31. The title was vacated on November 1, 1999.
32. Scott Hall defeated Bret Hart, Bill Goldberg, and Sid Vicious in a Texas Tornado Ladder Match.
33. The title was awarded to Chris Benoit when Scott Hall was injured.
34. Jeff Jarrett was stripped of the title due to injury on January 15, 2000.
35. Jeff Jarrett was awarded the title.
36. Vince Russo vacated the title on April 10, 2000 in Denver, Colorado. Scott Steiner defeated Sting in a tournament final. Was stripped by the Cat on July 9, 2000 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
37. Lance Storm defeated Mike Awesome in a tournament final.
38. Booker T. awarded the title to Chris Kanyon.
