Expectations
Ralph L. Clark
Mountains are tall
Like your
EXPECTATIONS
If you said jump
I'd ask how high
Until you found out
You were MISTAKEN.
When you said jump
And I said NO
In your eyes
I could see your
Expectations falling
Like tin soldiers
All in a ROW.
In that moment
From your mountaintop
You came tumbling DOWN
Like fools usually do
You'd put your foot
In your big mouth
And found out
Your conceit had
Tumbled to the GROUND.
