TODAY

This Day Only

I will think of you when I wake.

I will slowly let me feet touch the floor.

I will not smile for my children's sake.

And "My feelings" I will not ignore.

This Day I will take time to grieve.

I will not brush the tears away that sting my eyes .

I will say the things I could not say before you had to leave.

Today, I will take time and ask God...Why.

Just for today,

I will not put one foot in front of the other ...

I will not

walk aimlessly then find myself at your grave.

Today, I will shout, I loved you like no other.

Regardless of all the mistakes we made.

Just for today ,

I will refuse to be strong for others.

I will not hide my pain that has lined my face.

Only today, will I stay on my knees and weep for you.

Asking God Why , You He had to take.

Just for this day alone,

I will ask for the grace to live on without you.

Then I will wipe the tears that stain my face.

I will raise myself up like I am supposed to.

Not looking back at what's in my wake.

Just for today,

I need to feel again.

No matter the pain it causes me.

Just for today,

To know I'm still alive inside.

Just one more day ,

Then I can set you free.
