M&I sent this flight strip to me as a keepsake, along with the keepsake overlay on the next page. It is the flight plan for the flight my wife, myself and infant daughter took when we left Okinawa on 22 Feb 61. It translates as follows:

Slick Airlines 36C, a Li 049 (Super Constellation) estimated departure from Kadena at 0600Z. Actual departure was 0605Z. Estimated time enroute was 8 hours and 53 minutes to Iwo Jima via Red 3 Airway through check point Hotel, then rhumb line to Iwo Jima. Estimated time of arrival at Hotel was 0636Z and estimated time of departure from the Okinawa ADE at checkpoint Bravo was 0709Z. The flight would depart Iwo Jima at an unspecified time, flying 13 hours and 03 minutes via a &eat circle route to Hickam Aiffleld, Hawaii. The 3 Code 16's was a count back down the chain of command from Code 1 (President Eisenhower) to myselt rank of A/ic with 2 dependants. Alkaline 103 (A/2c Paul Dancer) was the M&I Tech. The track number assigned to the flight was RD64. 64 was my Alkaline number. The R was for flight follow, or something to that effect and the D was the reporting/tracking radar site (Kume or Yozadake), I don't recall which. I also cannot remember what the entry RR 0545 was. ETA Hickam?

I am amazed that Air Traffic Control (FAA) still uses the same flight strip style form, using the same aluminum holders, mounted on the same sliding rod brackets that we used so many many years ago. I often note them on TV reports and in films ("Pushing Tin" for one)

On the following page is a copy of the flight follow overlay (5 iFIW form 0-93) of RD64 prepared by one of the ADCC Air Survellance Techs, Amn Larry McDowell. It also was sent to me as a keepsake. The overlay is signed by numerous Baker Crew members and ADCC command staff Both the flight strip and overlay are of more interest to others as tools of the trade and for their content as memorabilia, than for how they apply to me personally.
