Week Two Outline
Monday (half hour session)
Students will be introduced to the concept of a
Listening Post. The listening post will contain a
simple text passage which will incorporate some
of their week one spelling words.
After hearing the passage once, they will be issued
with a related cloze passage which they will complete
after listening to the recording a second time.
Once they have completed the sheet, their answers
can be checked by listening to the recording a final
time and commenting on their accuracy.
Wednesday (half hour session)
Based on the previous lesson which included a
listening post, the students are presented with
a spoken text about the lifecycle of a frog.
An assessment of the comprehension of this activity will be based on the
sequencing of picture flashcards which relate to each
stage of a frog's lifecycle. These stages are described in
the spoken text of the listening post. Then, with the guidance of the
teacher, the students access the text flashcards,
which describe the lifecycle of a frog in simple
terms, and sequence these accordingly.
Friday (half hour session)
With their new knowledge from the previous two sessions,
the students will use the internet based program
"Lifecycle of a Frog Activity"
to review the sequence of stages in a frog's
development.
