Despite the fact that the De Havilland Comet’s lack of success eventually took it out of business, the discoveries made by the engineers working on the Comet were outstanding leaps for the aerospace industry. They blazed a trail, which lead the following developers like Boeing to attain the success that they did. In this regard, although the Comet can be considered an engineering disaster, many positive things can be said about the plane. If the bounds of our world are not pushed and tested, both triumphed and failed, the out of control rate of development that defines our century would be impossible.
