This is the antique radio that I restored. It is a Marconi Model 147 (made in Canada). I think it was built in the 1940s. I don’t have any good photos of the restoration process, but it looks a lot better than when I started and now it works! All I had to do was replace a few wires, replace the capacitors (the old ones were made of paper and wax), and build a power source (from a kit). It originally was powered by batteries, but you can’t get them anymore (which is why I had to build a power source). I also refinished the cabinet. The two dark stripes on the sides is the colour the whole radio was originally, but I liked the colour of the wood and couldn’t bring myself to stain it, so I just varnished it.
Thanks to Larry Wood for helping me with this project.
