The tail feathers on this carving are made of strip plastic. Due to the delicate nature of these feathers, I found those first carved from wood to be too fragile and after having broken them many times, decided on the use of plastic. This bird is sometimes called the Callithumpian Duck, which refers to it's varied notes. Improvised bands of uncertain musical abilities are hence called "callithumpian bands". |
