The Midlands

Penny and Jim took the train from London to Birmingham. Jim showed Penny round his hometown, and they had a couple of nights out - the Thursday night they went in a great 80s style bar called Reflex! It was fun, and Penny loved it!

They also headed to Stratford, visited Shakespeare's birthplace, and had a wander round the town. Lunch was a "picnic-McDonald's" near the river! Penny also had her first taste of Cornish pasty...hmmm...Jim thinks she enjoyed it!

The black-and-white timbered Falcon Hotel.

Shakespeare's birthplace.

The pretty canal basin in Stratford.

Penny with English and American culture...lol...Shakespeare and McDonalds!!

After these few days in the Midlands, Penny and Jim flew to Ireland, but returned to the Midlands for the last couple of days...this time they drove from Birmingham airport to the lovely town of Banbury in Oxfordshire. They wandered round the town, and drove out to the VERY grand Blenheim Palace!

Carving roasted pork in the market at Banbury!

The driveway to Jim's country cottage...lol..not really - it's Blenheim Palace!

Beautiful work on one of the gates!

The impressive grounds of the palace...
