DRAMA IN TRANSITION YEAR

In it's second year the drama module has again proved to be a popular choice with transition year students. The main of this course is to expose the students to the world of dramatic arts thus reinforcing and enhancing their knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the Arts culture.

Among the events organised was a trip to the cinema to see the blockbuster TITANIC and a trip to the TIVOLI to see the dance play TOMBS. Several workshops were organised covering various aspects of drama including circus skills, mark-making, improvision, script-writing, voice projection, movement, light and sound, modern movies, camera skills, etc.Special guests included Michael Collins who plays 'Johnie' in Glenroe and Ken Ryan from the Blanchardstown theatre group. Both individuals gave valuable advice and insight into their work and the work of other proffessionals in the business. The highlight of the year so far was the St. Patrick's Day parade and i took part in the Bahannal colourful dance production. Special thanks to director Dominic Campbell for his dedication and organisation of the project.

The Drama module is maintaining its promise in developing and reinforcing the students self-image, esteem, confidence and self-respect. -MR. C. McDANIEL
