This page is of my questions for theists. Some of these will be information gathering. But, for the most part, I hope for these to be thought provoking questions that might lend to a better understanding of one's own religion when considered.
If any theists (believers in one or more deities) would like to converse with me on these questions, feel free to email me.
Question 1: What standard is God held to?
. . . There's a very simple reason for this question. In most current western religions, which are based out of the Judeo-Christian-Muslim tradition, one of the overriding beliefs is that God is morally perfect. Yet, whenever one brings up the possibility of bad acts, it is said that these are all a part of God's plan. Well, I've been finding, more and more, that, while man is always flawed, God is perfect for those same qualities that are flaws upon men. God kills, acts with utter hatred and jealousy in his intent, ect. Yet, God has yet to be called on any of this. So, I have to wonder what standard is God held to.
. . . One big reason for this question is that one cannot have "good", "evil", or any such declarations without a standard of judgement. Saying that God is good is also saying that there is a standard of good and evil that God measures up to. Hense, before one can say God is good, one must apply a standard of judgement. Hense my question.
Question 2: What, if anything, could God do to make you question his goodness? (If you are one who defines good as the will of God, substitute "goodness with" "benevolance", "love", "kindness", "generosity", each in kind.)
. . . This question comes in much the same condition as Question 1. Rather, however, this comes as a result of the justifications that many give in response to issues of bad acts on the part of God, in the bible.
Question 3: Why should an Omnipotent, Omniscient deity require excuses when they aren't acceptible from human beings for their sins?
. . . Again, in response to excuses and outlandish possibilities presented. (one person told me that he didn't believe that God did send bears to kill 42 youths (not necessarily children) as said in the bible... but if he did, he would have had a good reason to.)
That's it for now. As I said, feel free to email me to debate these questions. If you have other questions that you feel should be on my site, feel free to send them to me. Do note, however, this is an atheist asking theists, so don't try to give me theist P.O.V. questions, because I do not hold that point of view.
