She had the brightest eyes I'd ever seen and smile that went on without end,
And I knew when she first smiled at me we'd be the best of friends.
We were two girls in our 16th year, we were still in school,
A couple of troublemakers that always seemed to bend the rules.
She dragged me all over and knew how to have some fun,
And of schoolage friends who stay with you, I knew she would be one.
For us, school finally ended, by then time went by so fast.
Through the birth of both her children our strong friendship still would last.
She found herself a husband and then began to settle down.
And I watched as she started to feel solid ground.
We still don't know what happened and we searched for her all over town,
One week later I watched as she was lowered into the ground.
When I watched her baby boy that day, it only took a second to realize
He has the widest smile and the brightest little eyes.
