A
Grey-rumped Treeswift (Hemiprocne longipennis). Size 23 cm (9 in).
This is a male with dark green bluish
crown, nape and mantle contrasting with greyish rump and chestnut covert
diagnostic. Throat and breast greyish with lighter belly. The female lacks
chestnut ear coverts.
Occurs in Myanmar to the Greater Sundas, Philippines and Sulawesi. Although
said to be a a fairly common resident from low elevations up to 1200 m south
to Singapore, it is seldom seen around where I live. Found in mangroves, the
forest edge, plantations and wooded gardens frequenting tree tops.
