This is an Eastern Marsh-Harrier (Circus spilonutus). Size 48 -56 cm (19-22
in). Male has white head,neck and breast streaked black and broad black
mask.White underparts and grey tail.

It breeds throughout temperate asia east to Japan and winters in south east
asia. This is the most common harrier in open country and this particular
bird was found in disused tin mining land in Tanjung Tualang - 1/2 hr drive
south west of Ipoh.
