Yellow-rumped Flycatcher (Ficedula
zanthopygia) Size 13 cm (5.25 in). This is a male with black upperparts,
white supercilium, bold white wing patch with thin white streak on inner
secondaries and bright yellow rump
diagnostic. Underparts bright yellow with white undertail coverts. Occurs in
eastern Russia, Mongolia, northern
China and Korea wintering south through South-East Asia to Sumatra and Java.
It is a passage migrant and winter visitor in Malaysia from low elevations up to
400 m, south
to Singapore. Found in forests, the forest edge, scrub, plantations and wooded
gardens usually
alone frequenting the lower storey. Quiet and unobtrusive.
