Jose SANO

Hello everyone! My name is Jose Sano, but you can just call me "pepe". I am a social communicator, currently working at Japanese Peruvian Association, in charge of the corporative communications.

I am a former PY (participating youth) from the 11th Ship for World Youth Program, back in 1999. This time, I've been honored to be the National Leader of the Peruvian Delegation for the 16th Ship for World Youth Program.

As a Social Communicator, I've always had the eagerness to understand the cultural differences that affect the relations between people in the context of globalization. I understand that face to face communication is the best way to achieve intercultural understanding, being aware of the richness of diversity. I believe this program develops our cultural awareness, and prepares ourselves for the challenges of a borderless networked world. No matter how much technology develops, a real globalized world will not take place until cultural diversity is understood, celebrated and encouraged. I believe this program can make this happen.

As a former participant of the Ship for World Youth Program , I can now assure how unique this opportunity is in helping us to assume our role of future leaders, building bridges, not boundaries; and making this world a better place to live. The experience of the ship radically changed the way I used to think, and now my goal is to prepare an even better Peruvian delegation, focused on sharing the best of our nation, and learning the most from others'.

I have been actively involved in youth and volunteer activities for more than 10 years. As a post program activity, I also want to share what I learn in this program with the people in the organizations I belong. Spreading our commitment for peace and understanding, will be my contribution to the purpose of the program.
