Your Health in Darwin outbreak of " mycobacterium ulcerans " known more as The Flesh-eating Disease.

It has now just been reported 25-Sept-04 that there been an outbreak of the The Flesh-eating Disease " mycobacterium ulcerans " up here in Darwin and that's only one of four that were reported so far.

However this is not good at all in that our own health department here in Darwin is not looking after us and more importantly our overseas visitors as it was not the health department that posted this outbreak but rather a distraught parent reported it to the Northern Territory News 25-Sept-04 due to her present concern for her own family and also that of others and their children.

Before everyone gets very complacent as to what we think this disease is and those famous words that " It will never happen to me " well lets take a look at just what this Flesh-eating Disease looks like as its not just children that can be hit by it as its open to everyone.

What it does look like?
What has been reported can be followed up on the web for yourself's in that the infection usually starts as a small spot attached to the skin resembling a mosquito bite that enlarges over days to weeks or a dry scab that won't heal which then breaks down into an ulcer which seems to relentlessly enlarge.

Your Wish
To the woman in Darwin who first reported this outbreak I will keep this web page up for you as it was your wish for it to be known so all could protect their children.
Along with the knowledge of at least knowing you have been heard in having done your best in having reported this to the Darwin health department where you tried very hard to bring attention to this matter but did not get much help or cooperation.
