| The A.W.A. sanctions five different championships (counting the Tag Team Championships as one championship), and they're ranked below in order from least prestigious to most prestigious. |
| Championship: | Championship Description: |
![]() Hardcore Championship | When it comes to prestige, the Hardcore Championship is the lowest of the low. Created from Josh McCool's old custom (and now battered and broken) Heavyweight Championship and wrapped in barbed wire, this title must be defended at least twice a month, and only in a match that involves Hardcore rules. There is no system to determine contendership for the Hardcore Championship. Only the baddest of the bad have the guts to step into the ring with the competitors in the Hardcore division. The champion is not automatically entitled to a championship rematch upon losing the title. |
![]() Television Championship | The Television Championship is easily the most competitive belt in the company, and the hardest to hold onto. That's because it must be defended at every A.W.A. show, period. It's generally defended in a standard match set to a fifteen minute time limit. However, a time limit draw does not result in a draw, but a victory for the champion. Upon losing the Television Championship, the former champion automatically becomes the number one contender to the title. |
![]() Atlantic Championship | A stepping stone to the Heavyweight Championship, the Atlantic Championship is right in the middle of the pack when it comes to prestige. The Atlantic Champion is usually assured a solid spot in the mid-card to upper mid-card scene. This belt may be defended in any type of match, but when defended in a stand match, the "over the top rope" rule is enforced. This means that throwing an opponent over the top rope will result in a disqualfication. The Atlantic Championship must be defended at least once a month, or the champion will be stripped of his title. Upon losing this belt, the former champion will automatically become the number one contender. |
![]() Tag Team Championships | The Tag Team Champions are considered the best two-man combination in the AWA. These two belts are the only titles in the tag team division, and are often hard sought after. Although second to the Heavyweight Championship in prestige, many feel that winning tag team gold may actually be more challenging, considering all of the experience and teamwork that is lacking in singles competition. The Tag Team Championships must be defended at least once a month, or the champions will be stripped of their titles. Upon losing the Tag Team Championships, the former champions automatically become the number one contenders and are entitled to a rematch for the belts. |
![]() Heavyweight Championship | The A.W.A.'s Heavyweight Championship dates back to its days in the Elite Wrestling Federation and the first champion, "The Greek God" Pat Gordon. Having evolved since its incarnation in 1999, it now signifies the top athlete in the Atlantic Wrestling Association. Winning this belt, especially on numerous occasions, is a big step towards getting into the Hall of Fame. The Heavyweight Championship must be defended at least once every six weeks, and may be defended in any type of match. Upon losing this belt, the former champion will automatically become the number one contender. |
