As you know from our studies this year, the hundreds of ancient Greek city-states were fiercely independent and often worshipped their own gods and glorified their own local heroes. Your city-state--Athens, Sparta, Troy, Thebes, Olympia or Delphi--was no different. As ancient Greek "citizens," you have learned much about your city-state and have had the opportunity to bring it to life through the city-building simulation, Zeus: Masters of Olympus. Much has happened to your city: tidal waves, famines, fires, and so on, all due to the wrath of the gods. Monsters such as chimeras and hydras may have plagued your citizens. Now, it is time to add a local hero to your city's lore.
You will need to accomplish the following: 1. Learn about the characteristics of the archetypal hero 2. Design a hero or heroine to best represent your Masters of Olympus city-state 3. Present the hero or heroine's story to the class using PowerPoint Click here to see how your work will be graded.
