My name is Jess G. Williams, AKA Fat Freddy. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I am
making this journey to ask for help on behalf of countless cancer, AIDS, MS and other patients in our region who might benefit from medical marijuana (hemp).
I myself have had to be evaluated in Washington State under court orders as to my personal needs. In June of 1997, I was told by the University of Washington that I needed 7 Grams of Hemp a day to live, in writing under court orders!
I was then told by the Governor of the State of Washington that I would not be able to get hemp because they made the laws, and it was illegal. I asked for my God Given human rights; rights I need to exercise in order to live. I was told that their laws making me a criminal were bigger than some 'so-called God's laws'. My question to the Governor is, "You are supposed to help me live, free, without pain. If I need to use it to live in peace, why does the law tell me not to?"
That is why I am writing this Letter. I want to live as a free person, don’t you?
The bottom line is marijuana (hemp) is medicine. More than 6,500 reports and journal articles from around the world support the medical efficacy of marijuana. Even the Institute of Medicine, in the most comprehensive US study of medical marijuana's efficacy, concluded that, "nausea, appetite loss, pain and anxiety. All can be mitigated by marijuana (hemp)."The U.S. is one of the few countries in the world continuing to classify marijuana (hemp) as a Schedule I drug like heroin, PCP and GHB. If regulated and sold hemp may save the Earth. Legalization/Regulation would sure dent the Wood, Paper, Oil, and a lot of other industries. Plus it would make a lot in taxes. Our air would be purer without pollutions from the use of oil.
Marijuana (hemp) should be reclassified immediately! Another year is too long for patients to wait. As my Regional Health Administrator, I am calling to urge you to demand Secretary Leavitt answer ASA's Data Quality Act and Rescheduling petition now!
