CANNABIS and COOKING
For Non-Smokers
Even with the many methods of taking the healing properties of Cannabis into the body, including the health-benefits of **vaporizers and the recent studies that prove marijuana does not cause lung cancer, many people who want to use the plant prefer not to smoke. I'm including some do-it-yourself recipes for those people. Also good for the experimental among us.

Kay LeeHAPPY HOLIDAZE CANNABIS BROWNIES:
Get a box of brownie mix that calls for oil to be used in the mixing instructions. I like the double fudge with walnuts brownie mix myself.
Next prepare the oil by using a double boiler to gently heat it while adding kind buds. They should be broken apart well, but not powdered as they would be hard to strain. Put as much in as you wish (at least 1/4 ounce for best effect), and heat for twenty minutes.
If you don't have a double boiler or don't know what one is just use two different sized saucepans. Fill the larger one half way with water and bring to a boil. Place the smaller one inside the larger one on top of the water and use it to heat the oil and herb. By using a homemade double boiler like this you keep the temperature right and avoid overheating and losing THC.
After 20 minutes or so, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer and separate the plant matter from the oil.
Now, and this is key, resoak the herb in 2 shots of 151 rum for 5 or 10 minutes and strain that mixture into the brownie mix with the oil. The rum will help remove any of the left over oil from the plant matter and will flavor the brownies as well.
Then, just mix and bake as directed for delicious rum flavored pot brownies.
RECIPE FOR BHANG CAKE:
INGREDIENTS
8 oz Cannabis leaves (the part people usually throw away
2 sticks butter
2 cans whole evaporated milk
1 store-bought cake mix (moist) of choice
Very large pot/kettle
Lots of waterTakes about 24 Hours to become Bhang.
Then use equal amount of Bhang to replace liquid in cake mix.
DIRECTIONS: Cover Cannabis in water in pot. Boil 1/2 hour. Drain, throw out water, save Cannabis. Do this 4 times. Now take drained Cannabis, place in pot, add butter and canned milk. Bring to boil. Then simmer for eight (8) hours. [NOTE: When cooking, keep Cannabis moist or covered with water at all times. May need to add an occasional cup of water.] When simmer is complete, drain, save liquid and very carefully dispose of wet Cannabis mass. Makes more liquid than cake mix asks for, so will need to simmer covered liquid down to 1 and 1/2 cups. Don't let it burn. When amount is 1 1/2 cups...That's the Bhang. Make cake mix as directed, except substitute Bhang for liquid. You will need to add the eggs. Bake as directed. Be careful - it is deceptively delicious. Best served warm.
This Bhang Cake is strong enough for 96 2-3oz servings.
DOSE: Individual. For new/light users recommend beginning
with 2oz slice. To find your level, start low and eat another slice
if correct dose isn't obvious in 1 hour. OVERDOSE: Could
throw up, could stagger, could sleep for long period of time.
WILL NOT KILL. Even if you eat too much, you will probably
feel real good for the next day or two. CAUTION: Too strong
for children and animals. Keep ingredients away from children
and pets. Use extreme caution when disposing of leftover

Once Baked and Delivered in San Francisco by Brownie Mary Rathbun
"Take 1 teaspoon black peppercorns, 1 whole nutmeg, 4 average sticks of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon coriander. These should all be pulverized in a mortar. About a handful each of stone dates, dried figs, shelled almonds and peanuts: chop these and mix them together. A bunch of canibus sativa can be pulverized. This along with the spices should be dusted over the mixed fruit and nuts, kneaded together. About a cup of sugar dissolved in a big pat of butter. Rolled into a cake and cut into pieces or made into balls about the size of a walnut, it should be eaten with care. Two pieces are quite sufficient. Obtaining the canibus may present certain difficulties.... It should be picked and dried as soon as it has gone to seed and while the plant is still green." ~1954 Alice B. Toklas Cook Book

The Original Mary Jane Superweed’s Super Candy (first published 1969)
Ingredients: 1 lb. roasted cashew butter. 3/4 cut dried currents. 3-4 tsp. honey. 2 cups shredded coconut. 1/2 cup ground almond meal.
The Preparation: In a mixing bowl blend cashew butter with honey. In a flat tray mix coconut with almond meal. Roll and knead cashew honey mix in coconut-almond mix. As the cashew picks up the coconut it will become less tacky. When both are thoroughly blended spread currents on tray. Roll and knead currents into the candy. When this is done pieces can be broken off and shaped into individual candies. To add cannabis: knead 1/2 - 1 gm of pulverized cannabis (preferably crumbly Lebanese) into each 3/4 inch cube of candy. Alternatively use pre-prepared THC Butter.
If you aren't feeling well, sweets may not be what you need. Cannabis cooking doesn't have to be deserts. You can cook just about anything with Cannabis.

Cannabis Recipes - The Garden's Cure offering recipes such as:
CANNABUTTER
INGREDIENTS
1 ounce Cannabis
1 pound Butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Using a coffee grinder, or something similar, grind the cannabis into a fine powder. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Stir in the cannabis powder with a wooden spoon. Once the mixture starts to come together, reduce the heat to low. Leave on heat for a minimum of 30 minutes, the longer the better, just don’t let the mixture burn! Once it has cooked, strain the mixture, making sure to squeeze all the butter out. You can use those plastic containers that margarine comes in if you have nothing to put your cannabutter in. Pour a little water over the butter once it has hardened and it will last longer.
NOTES
The amount of cannabis you use will determine how weak or strong it will be. Some people add as little as 1/4 ounce, some more. You can also use margarine, lard, shortening, and any oil (sunflower, sesame, olive, peanut, vegetable, etc.) instead of butter. If you don’t want the house to smell like cannabis, just add 7-28 grams of whole cannabis into a jar with oil and let sit for at least a week, this is known as Cannaoil. The same goes for flour, by mixing powdered cannabis into flour will leave you with a perfect flour substitute, Cannaflour. Just remember, any recipe that calls for butter, oil, or a fat can be substituted with the cannabis version.Cannabis Corner - Marijuana Recipies offering recipes such as:
