Ladies' Nipa and Bamboo Dorm

What the ladies' nipa and bamboo dorms looked like. All of these structures had a cement foundation of hollow blocks and then the bamboo and they also had cement flooring. This kept out the mud that came during the rainy season. By this time the students slept on wooden bunkbeds, made especially for them, rather than bamboo beds. Notice the laundry lines strung across in front of the dorm and on its left side. Also the bathing facility on the left side, behind the man.

Notice the clay water jar near the doorway. It rested in a split bamboo stand. The water tasted cool even though there was no ice. Pineapples were planted even in the front yard. Looks like one is ripe and ready to pick (bottom right).
