Back View of the House

This was the back view of the house . The Gomez family and four female students lived upstairs, in this back section of the house. Our family had the front. As seen in this picture and the one of the front of the house, this house had a lot of windows on all sides, both upstairs and down. They kept the house cool but they also meant a lot of work for they needed constant cleaning. On the left side (partly showing), was a steep stairway leading to the back yard. The Gomez family and students used it rather than going through the front of the house; which gave them and us more privacy. The rooms downstairs were used for offices and by some of the other faculty. Everyone else would live in the nipa and bamboo huts built in the backyard. The Shields’ pet monkey is on the papaya tree.
