A bomb dropped on the mountain during WWII created the crater, which filled up each rainy season and made the pond. The mound of dirt on the front right side, was later bulldozed to make the ground level in this area. The area behind the man walking is where the dorms and dining hall would come to be built. From this area one had a great view of the China Sea. The spot out in the Sea was part of a beached Japanese warship from WWII. It gradually disappeared from rusting in the sea water and pieces being removed by various people.
