This is a collection of scholarly articles published by Ken Conklin before he came to live permanently in Hawaii. 32 of those articles are made available below. There were 43 such publications from 1966 through 1985. The remaining 11 remain unavailable except by looking in the archives of major university libraries.
See also the webpage "Kenneth R. Conklin -- Scholarly publications and teaching positions from 1962 through 1992, and description of some life experiences which influenced the growth of the spiritual and philosophical viewpoint running through his work." That webpage provides a list of all 43 publications and identifies some of the main themes underlying and unifying many of them. It also includes descriptions of Conklin's teaching and research activities at three universities and one high school.

Each article made available below was held for many years by Ken Conklin either in the book or the entire issue of the journal where it was originally published, or in the form of a "reprint" of the single article. Each reprint was a small booklet printed from the same plates used to print the original book or journal; and the reprint was printed immediately after the book or journal itself.
The articles collected here are arranged in chronological order by date of publication, earliest on top.
Some of these articles were made available by Ken Conklin's friend Jere Krischel, who was very kind to use a scanner to make photocopies of each page, and then used an optical character reader to convert the scanned image into a text document. The OCR is not 100% accurate, since some letters might occasionally be misinterpreted by the machine, or a fly-speck or stain might be interpreted as an alphanumeric character. Ken Conklin therefore personally proofread each article and corrected the errors generated by the OCR. Later, other articles were made available by Ken Conklin alone using an all-in-one printer/copier/scanner.
All articles except one with extensive mathematical symbols are made available in simple text format, having been proofread by Ken Conklin. In addition, some articles are also available in pdf format which shows the layout of the actual original article.
A pdf file shows the article as it originally appeared in the journal, book, or reprint. The pdf is a perfect representation of the format of the original article, so it is easy to see the layout of each page, how the footnotes were organized, and (rarely) any pictures that were included. However, the pdf version might include occasional uncorrected errors generated by the OCR. In addition, the pdf file cannot easily be copied or pasted as text, and cannot be searched for keywords.
(2) A simple-text document contains the text of the article, without any pictures, and with somewhat different formatting. Footnote numerals are not raised; there are no italics; page numbers may be indicated by manual insertions not present in the original document; headers and footers showing the name and date of the journal have been eliminated. However, the simple-text version has the advantage that OCR errors have been corrected, the text can be searched for keywords, and the text can easily be copied and pasted.
Many thanks to Jere Krischel for his invaluable assistance with this project.
In May 2009 Ken Conklin scanned his article from 1972 entitled "The Three-Year BA.: Boon or Bust?" but it is available only in simple-text format. In June 2009 "The Mathematics Teacher" journal of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics was kind enough to send a pdf of an article from November 1981 entitled "Using Determinants and Computers to Recognize Dependent and Inconsistent Linear Systems"; and that article is available only in pdf format because numerous equations and determinants make it too difficult to offer in simple text. On September 18, 2011 Ken Conklin personally scanned from the original journal the following article, and created a webpage here for it in simple text only: Kenneth R. Conklin, "The Pedagogical Cultivation of Crisis as an Aid to Personal and Cultural Self-Realization," FOCUS ON LEARNING, VII, 2 (1980), pp. 7-18. In January and February, 2012 Ken Conklin searched through boxes in storage and scanned additional articles which seemed especially worthy of the effort.
