Name: Kurorei Panther Age: 3500+ years Height: 5'6", not including the horn. Weight: about 160 lbs Gender: Female Species: Jaguar, house cat, unicorn, dragon Type: Shadow Elemental Birthplace: A small, unremarkable stream near the mountains. Now she doesn't have any place she can call a home. Weapon: Tsanin Blades Abilities: Panther has surprisingly few abilities that are from her elemental heritage. The rest are all unique to her. Her elemental abilities include Shadow Dancing (teleportation through shadows), Shadow form (making her body insubstantial for a time), and the ability to blend in to shadows. But her most commonly used ability, the Dark Soul, is a manifestation of her pain and anger. And her blinded left eye is capable of seeing the truth... which is hard to explain. But nothing substantial can lie to or fool her left eye. Personality: Panther is very quiet and introverted. She is very emotionally unstable and sometimes volatile. She is easily depressed and lonely often. Likewise, her temper can get the best of her at the worst of times. If someone knows how to upset her emotionally, they can prevent her from being able to use her powers. History: Panther started out like any other elemental. She was born from a small stream in an old range of mountains that were very worn down and grown over with forests. Because of its size and lack of anything distinctive, it attracted very few potential enemies for a young elemental. Cat-like and small, the young elemental that would be Panther was nearly powerless and without intelligence. But that was perfectly normal. She lived as an animal for countless years, hiding inside her mother stream when danger came, whilst other elementals born from the stream were killed, devoured, or reabsorbed into the waters. It happened, and elementals have no true sense of family like other beings do. After an indeterminable amount of years, she slowly came in to her sentience. It was a slow process, and she simply went from being another animal, to aware. And so she continued to grow and to learn. Over time she began to change, growing out of her small, feline form, though slowly. Very slowly. One day a Fire elemental came upon her and her small home. He was not aggressive, and asked for the small Water elemental's name. Unsure as to why she did, she told him 'Panther'. And from then on, that was her name. And she didn't question it. She left her modest home and mother stream when she reached the elemental equivalent of adolescence... having reached a two-legged form. And for a time she wandered the old mountains in which her home had been situated. She found the Fire elemental she had met again a long time ago and travelled with him for a time, learning more about the world and slowly gaining the skills she would need to survive. And after another indeterminate amount of years had passed, she left him too. She was under 500 years of age when she heard the tales of the two strange brothers born and being raised by a small community of her kin. Intrigued, she left to see for herself. Having no other place to go, she agreed to stay and help raise the young ones, becoming one of their many tutors. She did love Swiftbolt, for it was very hard for anyone not to, but she was drawn more towards the younger brother. No matter what she did, Dai'chym never noticed her. He continually drew into his own world and mind, and could not see that someone did care for him, though she had to admit that part of that was her own fault. She was naturally quiet and withdrawn, and had a hard time showing her feelings. But shortly before he left and became a demon, they shared a few nights together, and she began to think that he finally understood. But he left and betrayed all of them. Crushed, broken hearted, betrayed, angry, and bitter, Panther turned her energies towards Swiftbolt and helping his campaigne, becoming one of the top generals in his forces. She urged Swiftbolt not to go when Dai'chym sent him the message with an offer for peace. But he left anyway. She and the other generals knew it was a trap, and devised a sword to capture and hold Dai'chym... the Diagenmorr. A crystal sword with inherent magic to act as a prison. She took it herself and rushed after Swiftbolt to try and stop him. But she arrived too late, and caught Dai'chym as he celebrated his recent victory over his brother. While his back was turned, she threw the sword and impaled him through the chest. The sword drew him into it's depths and sealed him inside. He was not dead. But he was not free to harm any other beings either. The sword was hidden in the depths of Dai'chym's own moving tower, which was deemed the safest place for it. The entrance to the void in which Swiftbolt was trapped was locked inside the Temple of the Bells, a place that was hidden deep inside of a jungle far from any creature's civilization. And Panther set herself as guardian to both. She felt guilty for being unable to stop Dai'chym, and foolish for having trusted him or cared for him. Because of these emotions swirling inside of her, along with all the pain of heart break and war, she fell into despair. Her coat turned black, and over time she was no longer Panther the Water Elemental, but a Shadow Elemental instead. A Fallen Elemental. Sometime while she stood guard duty for the brothers, she began to change further. She recoiled from the world as a whole, shunning any and all company, preferring to sit out her sentence for all of eternity if need be. She felt angry after several years. Why was this brought down on her? Why was she created, if this was to be her fate? Why not someone else? She had never had any ambition, never wanted to go down in the history of this world, content to be a simple little water elemental from a tiny, insignificant stream. This bitterness grew slowly until it consumed her. And one faithful night she finally lost it. Looking across a human civilization she felt such a strong hatred for all those creatures that didn't know her pain and guilt and shame. For the first time in known history Catskin ripped through, using Panther's hatred as a conduit and warping her body to its own likeness. Catskin rampaged across that civilization, destroying all it saw without prejuidice. When Panther awoke the next morning, she saw what had happened, and she retreated back into the forests, vowing to never again allow her anger to run away with her. And so she did, always keeping a tight reign on that abnormal hatred, borne of her dual natures and own tragic history. Sometime shortly after this occurance is when Uriel appeared. Panther never knew how it happened, though the incident with Catskin probably triggered the further fracturing of her mind. In recent history Panther wanders now, seeking the ones who would free the brothers and to prevent it, with Xhyniss for a companion. She remains a Shadow Elemental, and a broken one at that (though she has grown able to pull herself together and control herself most of the time), but she will never allow herself to fade away until she feels she has done all she can to right the wrongs she has done in her past.
