Name: SwiftBolt
Age: 3000+ years
Height: 6 foot to the shoulder
Weight: Unknown
Gender: Male
Species: Dragon and wolf
Type: Sorcerer
Birthplace: A deep, ancient forest well away from any negative powers or influences. Now he lives in a place known as the Temple of the Bells, which is magically hidden from all but a very few.
Weapon: Fangs and claws
Abilities: Swiftbolt's true array of abilities are unknown. For the most part he only uses his powers to change the colors of anything he sees to something bright and vibrant, or to cause strange phenomenon such as over-sized flowers to spout, winged frogs to appear, and large bubbles to float about. He is capable of shapeshifting at will, and causing other people to shapeshift.
Personality: SwiftBolt used to be a strong and kind leader, but now he is childlike and completely insane. Constantly happy and with a horrible memory, he is always looking for new friends and playmates, though they are often forgotten as soon as they are found. But he never means any harm and remains good at heart. He remains lucid, however, when inside the Temple of the Bells and when there his personality is kind, generous, but forlorn and melancholy. He tries to hide it however.
History: Swifty was born as the older twin of Dai'chym. He and Dai were born to a common wolf deep in a forest far from humans, a mixture of wolf and dragon. Neither were mortal, granted long life and power by the gods as protectors of the natural world against the rising human threat. The wolf mother died during birth, and the infants were found the next morning by two elves.
The elves were unable to care for the infants and were confounded by their nature, so they were given to a small community of elementals to raise. The elementals were better able to understand the needs of the young ones, so they raised and nurtured them to young adulthood. As Dai and his brother grew, and their purpose discovered, the small community attracted others to come and see them and help in their education. Dragons, elves, spirits... all sorts of beings came.
Swiftbolt remained oblivious to his brother's hardships, and loved him unconditionally. He was innocent and could not understand at the time that his successes and popularity might hurt his brother. He had many friends and was loved and trusted by everyone thanks to his open and happy nature. He also developed a very extensive knowledge of magic, though was able to cast spells and manipulate magic innately, soon becoming the first true sorcerer.
One day Dai'chym simply disappeared. At first Swifty was unconcerned, for his brother often would leave and not return for up to several weeks. But when Dai reappeared, Swiftbolt was the only one who could recognize him. His body, his aura... everything had changed. He suddenly radiated a hatred Swiftbolt couldn't understand, and he laughed and destroyed all of the elementals who were with Swiftbolt, who had once raised him from birth.
Dai'chym left and set up his tower, and Swiftbolt, hurt and confused, took counsel with his friends and patrons. The war was on. Swiftbolt was thrown into a deep depression during this time. The need to fight and send innocent lives into battle weighed upon him, as did his brother's betrayal. But he hid his sorrows well.
When Dai'chym sent his message for peace talks, Swiftbolt was strongly advised not to go. His generals feared a trap, but Swiftbolt had to believe that there was a way to end the suffering, even if it meant he was hurt or killed. He left and ignored his advisors and confronted his brother. He fell feet-first into Dai's trap, locked into a void of complete darkness. No sound, sight, smell... nothing.
For three thousand years both brothers remained locked in their own dark prisons, neither one able to get free without setting the other loose. During the millenia, Swiftbolt lost his mind and reverted to a childlike state. He became completely insane, though something deep inside of him still remembered who he was and what had happened. But that small place is easily drowned out.
Both brothers were eventually freed, but how and why and by whom has yet to be uncovered.
