The Our Language, Our Field, Our Own Free-SB Movement Page: Hosted by Eastern Star Software

Benefit from others' hard-earned convenience of typing in SB;
Share your earned convenience & speed in SB with others!
(Share it free, or may even do business!)

Esteemed visitors, as you are visiting this page, we may safely assume that you heard of Shabda-Brahma ET... Processor (the shareware called SB, its latest versions 5.7 & 5.8 freely available from the Internet, in particular from the renowned download.com), and the distinct, definitive convenience, speed & fluency it offers to its users for typing long texts. But the benefits accrue slowly even for English-users in specialized fields, and for the users in non-English, particularly in non-Euro-American languages (other than in pre-set Hindi & Assamese), choosing an appropriate font and setting up the symbolizer introduce additional difficulties to the teething-period users. You may greatly decrease your troubles (and the initial lack of apparently substantial benefit) if you collect an appropriate entry from the SB-use database below from a veteran SB-user in your language/ field. Else, you may greatly help others teething in your language/ field if you contribute to this database below. To contribute, i.e., to upload your resource here, write an e-mail to webmaster@essg.50megs.com (will be finally referred by us to Rituraj Kalita, the SB-developer, who maintains this particular user-platform) with the resource .zip file (and an optional explanatory write-up file, if you wish) clubbed there as attachment(s): if you're providing the resource for free, we'll host it here for free (otherwise, may keep any paid resource at your disposal and email us, as user-info, a write-up .htm file to be hosted here).

Notes for Contributor-Users: Take care to have all your spellings (and phrase/clause grammar) correct in your typed (or collected) text: it's clearly your basic responsibility to the collecting-users in your language/ field. We at ESS, sitting literally in a small corner in Assam (India), are obviously not in a position to check the accuracy of your Amharic/ Yiddish (language) or cardiology (specialization) auto-suggestions (we'll check only for viruses)! Also, if you are typing in SB using a language or a font other than the four pre-set ones (the pre-set languages are English, Spanish, Hindi & Assamese, and the pre-set fonts respectively are None, Times New Roman, Kiran & Aadarsha Ratne Internet), take care to define the symbolizer (i.e., one of the three files SBL_O_Eu.dtt, SBL_Hind.dtt & SBL_Assa.dtt) correctly, and as completely as possible, (note that the 'English' option in SB, even though used to write another English-script language such as Khasi (of North-East India), doesn't have/ need any associated symbolizer).

How exactly to form the OurOwnSB Resource .zip file for uploading: When your auto-suggestion database and symbolizer are finally checked [to check auto-suggestions (A-Ss), press Ctrl+Insert while any bluish auto-suggestion is being shown, delete or correct any wrong A-S entries, then press Ctrl+End to save] within SB & found OK, press Shift+F12 to full-save & export the text & auto-suggestions. Now exit SB, then open the Backup subfolder within the SB program-folder (say, C:\SB5th), then open its appropriate (last-session UE) user-subfolder (say, User_01, User_02, or User_07). Within that user-subfolder, locate the file LastFont.txt, open that file (check for its date & time of formation stated at the bottom of the file), and fill in the required entries (such as about specialization/ field). Note the names of the files to be zipped into the contributor-resource, close the LastFont.txt file, then (keeping Ctrl key hold down) select all these files & (releasing the Ctrl key) right-click at any of the selected file, and via the WinZip option form a zipped (.zip) file appropriately named by you (choose a short & meaningful name, such as CardioEngl.zip). Now, e-mail us with this .zip file as an attachment.

Notes for Collecting-Users: Take care to check for the accuracy of the spellings (including phrase/clause grammar) and of the symbolizer-assignments as well, in your downloaded SB-resource. Please note that we at ESS, sitting in a small corner in Assam (India), are obviously not in a position to check the accuracy of your collected Amharic/ Yiddish (language) or cardiology (specialization) auto-suggestions (we'll, however, check for viruses)! We are providing, free of charge, only a convenient platform for the contributors and the collecting-users to interact, and so providing the contributor-resources in only a 'as is where is' basis. We are not liable for any loss of time, repute or loss of profit because of you blindly writing using contributor-resources with spelling or grammatical mistakes, or because of you overwriting your own long-earned SB-use database with that provided by any differing-field/ inferior-quality contributor (to prevent the last-stated problem, always define a new user-entity just before installing any resource)!

How exactly to install the downloaded OurOwnSB Resource: If the font mentioned is not pre-installed in your computer, download and install (in Windows) that font (find its download URL within the tabled list in the OurOwnSB page). Next, download the resource .zip file and extract out its containing-files into any temporary folder you wish. Open (by double-clicking) the LastFont.txt file found therein, and check for the (top) entry of SB L-S specification of this resource/ font (System English/ 'Another European'/ 'Hindi'/ 'Assamese') Now, either form a new user-entity (UE) in SB and enter it [or at least enter any non-unity UE (i.e., non-01 UE) UE-Script combination that you have never ever entered till now (say UE No. 02 - 'Assamese' Script combination]. Now, create a new file (say nothing.txt) and then choose the appropriate script for it, as directed in the resource LastFont.txt file. Enter into the file in SB, then set (if not already pre-set) the appropriate-script font (via the Specify 3-Fonts menu-option in the pull-down Edit menu) to the font mentioned in that LastFont.txt. Now press Shift+F12 to save the file, then exit SB. The UE, if newly formed, has been created [otherwise it is pre-existing]. Now open the Backup subfolder within the SB program-folder (say, C:\SB5th), then open its appropriate user-subfolder (as per the UE you've just entered into: say, User_02, User_04 or User_07, but surely never User_01). Paste the aforesaid extracted-out resource files (say, LastFont.txt & 99.dtb) into that particular user-subfolder (be bold to overwrite any pre-existing file(s), you need to overwrite). Close all folders, you're done!
