Barbara Martin Bailey has been twenty-four years with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, in Pontiac, Michigan. She has had 35 years of doing forensic art. She has had other back ground experience as a former Art teacher, in the Berkley Public School District, a courtroom sketch artist for NBC and TV4 News, a graphic artist for community and state safety programs, and medical equipment illustrator. She attended the University of Michigan and attained a Bachelor of Art Education degree from Eastern Michigan University. She is FBI Academy trained and has published a forensic art research paper in 2002. She is a member of the International Craniofacial Identification Association, IAI, and MOIA.
Also, has given expert level testimony in forensic artwork involved in felony cases at the District and Circuit Court levels and has instructed at the FBI Academy 1998, in the Forensic Facial Imaging Course. She works mostly on homicides, armed robberies, and major felony cases.
Barbara is currently assigned to the Forensic Science Laboratory in the Technical Services Division of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, where she is producing the Forensic Focus newsletter that is distributed to all law enforcement agencies in her county.
She is IAI certified until 2008.
