During the summer, warm water is sent underground through the loops to
become
cooled since the average temperature of the ground is between 50 to 70
degrees
Fahrenheit. The cold water is then sent back up into the home to
cool
the air. During the winter, cold water is sent underground through the
loops
to absorb heat that is produced. The hot water is sent back up
into
the home to warm the air.

Horizontal Loop System
Slinky System
Horizontal System
There are four types of
loop systems that are
used
depending on the geology of the ground in the area, but the loop
system
we picked
for our development is the horizontal closed loop system. This
system
is for recently constructed homes that have a large supply of land and
that
don't have hard rock. It contains two pipes that are
side-by-side.
To use this system you must have a ground that is at least 4 to 6 feet
deep.
A type of horizontal loop system called the slinky system can be used
otherwise
if you don't have a sufficient supply of land in your area. The
slinky
system curls the pipes into multiple circles so there is more pipe used
in
a shorter area. The horizontal loop system best fits a home
because it has loops that are not deep underground and are
complicated. The
system does require a large area of space to use, but you can fix that
by
using the slinky loop system.
