Think of farbs and campaigners as two sets of football fans. You rag on one team or the other, but you're connected by a common passion. We are all members of the same community and have to put up with the same difficulties.
This whole project is meant to be taken with a grain of salt. None of us at Team Farbfinger intend for these photographs to be meant as comments on the personality of the person in the photograph (the Sporkee). In fact, we have spoken with several of the individuals depicted, and found them to be very nice. We are also fully cognizant that, due to one reason or another, some people are unable or unwilling to change their impressions. This is fine with us. Reenacting should be fun, not a way of life, and authenticity is purely an individual decision. No member of the team has or will ever refuse to help another reenactor with matters of authenticity - that doesn't help anyone - and will provide this information only if asked, without being invasive. Trust us, we know that the self-styled saviors of reenacting (also known as "Hardcools") are a great detriment to the hobby. At the same time, though, we would like to see a general improvement in the quality of individual impressions. Reenacting is often cited as the fastest growing hobby in America. It is the responsibility of all of us to represent the life of the individual soldier or civilian to the absolute best of our ability.
The term "farb" and its application to anyone is only the opinion of the photographers and webmaster, and should not be taken as willful slander. We were farbs ourselves back in the day as well, and all have particular traits that can be deemed unauthentic - after all, the only authentics are the men and women who lived from 1861-1865, and the important thing is to remember their sacrifices, not to squabble pettily. We're only joking.
Thank You,
Team Farbfinger
