June 3, 2007 The Three Angels Interview with LuLu Fry
by R. Barrington
RB-I noticed the three stainless steel angels and wonder if I might talk to you about them.
LF-Certainly. They came in a dream. I’ve had repetitive dreams all of my life but the angels didn’t arrive until I moved out here in Crawford County...from urban to rural.
Out here I have a LOT of sky and I spend a bunch of time skywatching, enjoying the shapes, the intense colors, and maybe I was a little lonely. At night it began, the dreams I mean, with stars. They were shaped like star symbols know, five points and all. They would come toward me all bright and glowing and burst into spinning circles just like in Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” Sometimes I could control them, make them slow down, or even go backwards.
Then one night three angels appeared in the distance behind the stars. They weren’t flying or floating, they were walking
RB-Walking like a person?
LF-Somewhat. They had curves, breasts and big hips, and the bottom, the legs separated and moved. Like that. (She points to the angel sculptures.) The angels radiated just like the stars, but the angels were translucent, white-silver, and they had flashing color, like you see in a moonstone. They were far away and I could not see their faces, or even if they had a face. They shimmered, and were somewhat mutable.
RB-Did you have this dream every night?
LF-No, no, not every night. Just now and then. As the months grew the angels came closer and closer. The night, it was on my birthday, they came right up to me, stars spinning in the background, and I could see the closest angels face, I was startled...it was my face. It scared me then, but I am not spooked by them now. In fact I think angels probably look like you because your face in familiar to you and maybe more comforting than a strange face would be. I would like to ask other angel-dreamers about that.
RB-Did the angels speak to you?
LF-YES The lips didn’t move but I could hear them. They brought me a message that night. It was important and comforting. I wasn’t sure about something. They knew the right way to go.
RB-Are there always three angels?
LF-It is always the trio, three angels. Most of the time only one speaks while the other ones soar and sing.
RB-Do you still dream about the angels?
LF-Yes. They bring me messages all of the time. Whenever I am confused and unsure I just think about the problem before I go to sleep, and they show up. I welcome them. The strange thing is that I noticed they do have feet, the feet of a bird. They are bird-angels
RB-Besides the angels, I have noticed other sculptures, here.
LF-Yes, I built figures, chairs, tables, mobiles. You’ll find some mermaids and other water creatures, shooting stars...oh, the man-in-the-moon...I adore him, rattlesnakes (there’s another story attached to those ), fish (another story), lightning bolts, flying things, guardians, and a lot of abstract sculptures. I guess every sculpture has a story, really. I have sketchbooks full of yet-to-be-made pieces. Oh, I just finished a gate and I'm working on three portals.
RB-One day I’d like to hear about the others. Thank you for the interview.
LF-You are quite welcome. Stop by again.
