(eh) Uses a Rectifier Tube.
On the left the hot side of the car battery connects through a filter inductor to the center tap of the primary of the power transformer. A capacitor connects from the center tap to ground. The car ground connects to the radio ground. The vibrator is a symbol that looks like a single pole double throw relay. The movable contact of the vibrator is grounded. One of the stationary contacts goes to the top of the transformer primary. The contact closest to the coil goes to the bottom of the primary. The coil of the vibrator connects from the bottom of the primary to ground. The center tap of the secondary is grounded. There is a capacitor connected across the entire secondary. The top of the secondary goes to one plate of the rectifier a zero Z 4, often called oh Z 4. The bottom of the secondary goes to the other plate. The cathode connects through a capacitor to ground. Ground is B minus and the rectifier cathode is B plus. End part eh.
(b) Uses Extra Contacts to Accomplish Rectification.
On the left the hot side of the car battery connects through a filter inductor to the center tap of the primary of the power transformer. A capacitor connects from the center tap to ground. The car ground connects to the radio ground. The vibrator is a symbol that looks like a double pole double throw relay. The lower movable contact of the vibrator is grounded. One of the stationary contacts goes to the top of the transformer primary. The contact closest to the coil goes to the bottom of the primary. The coil of the vibrator connects from the bottom of the primary to ground. The center tap of the secondary is grounded. There is a capacitor connected across the entire secondary. The top of the secondary goes to the upper stationary contact of the second set of contacts. The bottom of the secondary goes to the lower stationary contact in the same set. The movable contact connects through a capacitor to ground. The movable contact is B plus. The ground is B minus.
