Let's start off at the beginning with some prehistoric costumes.


Paleolithic man
250,000-17,000 B.C.E.

Neolithic man
17,000-4500 B.C.E.

As you can see, the material they used was mostly animal skins. The examples above are of European man. They wore animal hides and later buckskin. They also adorned themselves with rocks and beads around the neck. During the late Neolithic period, they started sewing material together using sharpened bones as needles, as seen below. Then they began weaving clothes.
