Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury
Transcript

Opening scene: The skiff. The alarm is blaring.
Flash to the front controls then to the side wall.
Red lights blink throughout.

Computer
Hull breach contained. Engines operating at 170% capacity.

Close up on the front control station reveals that
every warning light there is red and franticly blinking
for attention. Bounce to the gauges showing them
revving nearly off the charts.
A finger flips a red switch next to a blue light before
depressing the middle switch of three bringing all of them online.
The green light above it comes on.
Pull back to show a bald figure in goggles – Riddick —
at the pilot’s station rapidly working a series of
switches at the center panel of the controls.
Continue pulling back as the dialogue continues.
The pull back reveals a slender girl dressed in boy’s
clothing — Jack - on the right side
and a dark skinned man — Imam - on the left.
Both are watching the pilot and the controls with alarm.

Computer
Engine and hull failure imminent under current parameters.

The skiff’s alarms continue to blare in the background
as another shot of the gauges illustrate the engine’s
struggling effort.
There is a shot of Riddick’s hand working the levers for acceleration.
A view of the outside of the ship shows that the
skiff’s wing has been punctured by a grapple-like
device connected to a cable as the following voice-over plays:

Jack
A lot of questions, whoever we run into.
Could even be… a merc ship.

Pull back to show a much larger brass and silver ship
that is hauling the skiff toward itself via the cable.
The ship, the Kubla Khan, literally dwarfs the skiff.
Back inside Imam fingers his prayer beads as Jack
stares wide eyed at Riddick.

Computer
Critical systems failure in five seconds.
Four seconds.
Three seconds.

Pan to the pilot as he begins to power down the skiff.
His face is a mass of intense concentration with only his eyes hidden.

Computer
Two seconds. One second.

The ship goes dark and Riddick places his hands together.
He drums his fingers together and looks back at Jack as he talks.

Riddick
First you’re a boy, then you’re a girl, and now you’re a psychic.
Careful what you wish for, Jack.

Jack smiles at him sweetly then turns her attention to the voice blaring overhead.

Junner
Unidentified craft, state your purpose and contents.

Move back out of the skiff revealing the two ships
still linked by the cable and zoom in on the inside
of the Kubla Khan panning as the voice speaks again.
People are busy at work clearly linked into the ship via their uniforms.

Junner
Unidentified craft, state your purpose and contents.

Focus in on a tall, dark haired fellow dressed in a lab coat type outfit.
He is clearly in command of this busy control room.
Pan from his black boots, up his lean form and his
angular face as he speaks again,
sounding rather annoyed.

Junner
Unidentified craft, state your purpose and contents.

Back in the skiff Riddick finally answers.
But as he does so the workers set to analyzing his voice patterns.
As they search Riddick’s record comes up as a match.
Junner’s reply comes as he looks over the record and attempts to verify it.

Riddick
Name’s Johns. My ship got scrapped on a transport run.
The only other survivors from the whole mess are with me.
Outside of that we got nothing.

Junner
Tell me, Mr. Johns, what brings you to this lonely corner of space?

Riddick
I’m a bounty hunter.

Junner
Then it appears we have something in common.

Junner finally zeros in on a confirmed match and
watches the bounty tabulate to 1.126.000 UD’s.
He turns and looks at a white robed female figure
sitting in a gold throne-like chair.
It nods one time.
Junner turns back to his crew.

Junner
Bring them in.

The internal gears begin pulling the cable up and
drawing the skiff inside.
Jack looks up at the top of the skiff and gasps.

Jack
They’re reelin’ us in.

The huge docking bay at the front of the Kubla Khan
opens as the skiff approaches and swallows it up with a
finality to it’s clang.
Pan by the side of the larger ship as it continues on
it’s course like a giant fish that has caught dinner
but is still on the hunt.
Inside the docking bay huge clamps grip the skiff by the wings.

Man on Speaker
Ship is secure in Bay 3.

Inside the skiff, which is now dark, Riddick flicks on a lighter.
It takes two tried to get a flame.
He lights a cutting torch and puts the heat against the fire sensor.
Imam watches with rapt attention at the cleverness of the maneuver.

Jack
No offense, but I don’t think that’s gonna cut it
against whatever it is that’s coming for us.

The Kubla Khan’s internal sensors scoop out the ship,
feeding data to the control room.
Currently three sources of heat register.
But as they watch the life signs mysteriously vanish…

Junner
Report.

Control room worker one
Two heat signatures. Adult.
But there’s some residual as well.
Could be a juvenile.
More likely burn-off from the engines.

Junner
Find out.

In the skiff Riddick continues to apply the heat to the fire sensors…

Riddick
Hold your breath.

Back to the control room…

Control room worker 1
Running a tighter sweep… Wait a minute.

Junner
What is it?

Control room worker 1
It’s the sweep.
According to what I’m getting, they’re gone.

Junner
Gone?

Control room worker 1
Nothing inside that ship’s putting out heat anymore. How that’s possible--?

Junner
Grrr…

Open to feet walking on the top left side of a curved passageway.
The bottoms of the boots have magnets that allow the
walker to grip the metallic surface.
Pull back to reveal that the walker is Junner.
At equal distances apart are two other men.
Clearly these fellows are mercs, and they are mean looking.
More walk behind also in groups of three set at
distances apart so that the fourth wave of them
completes the circle leaving no gaps.
Of these bounty hunters about a third are female and
they look as tough as the men.
All are armed to the hilt.
Junner walks up to two who guard the door,
a woman with an eye patch and a squinty-eyed man
holding a cig in the corner of his mouth.

Junner
Anything?

Male guard
No sir.
No one’s been in or out of this bay since I locked it down myself.
Zero atmosphere.

Pull back to reveal the sheer size of the bay that
shrinks the round window to a pinpoint.

Junner
Pressurize.

Air hisses into the space as the male merc guarding the
door works the controls.

Male guard
We’ve got O-2, sir.
It’s thin, but you’ll be able to breathe it.
Green for breach.

Junner
Earn your keep.

The entire wall turns to reveal an opening and the
mercs move out into the bay fanning out in all
directions to give even coverage to the skiff.
One of the mercs drops a bullet that Junner catches as he speaks.
He returns the ammo with a disapproving glance.
The camera scans the inside of the bay showing the
mercs in position around the skiff as he ends his speech.

Junner
There is a man inside this vessel who is something far worse…
than anyone here has ever encountered.
Should you survive this day,
it is one you will remember for the rest of your life.
Do not underestimate the importance of such a thing.
Begin.

The single merc still in the hall with him runs forward
to get momentum enough to glide through the gravity-
less bay and reach the skiff’s door.
He’s off target and alights on one of the clamps before
springing to the wing and dropping down to his goal.
Now upside down, he proceeds to set a device on the
door that allows him to break into the skiff’s controls
to unlock the door. Mercs ready their rifles on the
target. Junner waves more of the forward as the fellow
works to break the code keeping the door locked.
Once the correct code is found the merc sets the door
to unlock and begins to back away out of the line of fire.
But there is so much pressure built up inside the skiff
that the foam from Riddick’s setting off the fire
sensors explodes outwards blowing some mercs back and
sucking in the three unlucky ones who were still too
close. They scream in surprise.
The foam settles into a sphere.
The lockpicker bobs to the surface with a grunt.
He pulls a blob of the stuff off his head and sniffs it.

Lockpicker
Extinguishing foam?

Junner registers alarm. It’s a trap.

Junner
Fall back! Everyone fall back!

Mercs begin hustling away from the tan-gray blob.
Those caught inside begin attempting to swim out of it.
Mercs caught at its edge scream as the tan foam turns red from their blood…
Others stare in horror as they struggle to get to safety.
The female mercs situated at the edge level their guns
at the scene having stayed in the safe zone to begin with.
Junner stares at the scene.

Junner
He has to breathe sometime.

Another male merc levels his gun at the backside of
the sphere as Jack’s face skims the surface just long
enough to catch a breath of air. She takes a hasty
gasp and ducks back inside as the merc opens fire on
her location. Imam breaks through the underside for
his own lung full of air and ducks back just before
bullets begin flying liberally through the foam.
His friends in danger, Riddick springs from the foam,
cutting down two mercs mid-flight and kicking a third
into the back wall as he lands on a ledge.
Without a pause he barrels into two more who were
firing on Imam’s location downing them with fatal ease.
He grabs one of their guns and sprays the female merc’s
location with it before jamming the stock into another merc’s throat.
He tosses the weapon aside, slashes another merc’s
throat and rushes up a ramp-like structure after still
another fellow with a rifle. He stabs him in the
stomach before turning his body around to use it as a shield.

Junner
You certainly know how to make an entrance.

Riddick glances his way, ducks and heads toward another merc.
Meanwhile Jack pops out of the foam and grabs a rifle off a body floating nearby.

Jack
That’s nothing, scarecrow.
He’s gonna kick your ass so hard—

She’s pulled back into the foam before bullets rip her apart.
Junner quirks an eyebrow.
Mercs scream around him as Riddick continues to kill them without mercy.
Junner has his target. The killer’s weak spot.
He pushes off as Jack emerges from the foam at another
point and kicks her to the ground.
She screams with the surprise and the impact and raises
her hands as he levels his gun at her forehead.
The gun has a sword sheathed to it.

Junner
I think not. What do you say?

Junner looks over at Riddick who has the only other
living merc pinned to the ground with his hand choking
his neck and his shiv at the ready.
Bodies float in the air behind him.

Riddick
Call off your lap dog,
before his trying to impress you gets him killed.

Riddick lets the merc struggle for life as he turns
his attention skyward toward the person running the show –
Antonia Chillingsworth.
Camera pans up toward the white robed figure standing up above them.

Chillingsworth
Am I so obvious?

Riddick
Call it what you want,
but tell him to stand down, now.

The scene shifts to show Jack on her back looking up at
the sharp point pressing into the skin on her forehead.
Up above them Chillingsworth’s robe folded back behind
her revealing an alluring outfit that hints at
cybernetic enhancement.
She spoke as she revealed herself,
taking on a somewhat casual air as she assumed full
command of the situation.
Riddick snarled at her as she spoke.

Chillingsworth
You’ll have to excuse Junner’s excitement.
It sometimes makes him a touch… quick.
Though I can’t say I blame him.
You see, he’s just heard so much about you,
Riddick.
Yes, I know your name.
Quite a bit more about you, I think.

Riddick
Careful. You may find what you’re digging for.

Chillingsworth
I’m willing to share, of course,
but I must ask that you surrender your weapon…
before any more of my apparently overpaid associates…
come to an untimely end.

The camera pans over the floating bodies
and the blobs of blood scattered through the bay as she speaks.
Then it returns to Riddick.

Riddick
Mmmm. Not gonna happen.

Chillingsworth
No?

She signals to Junner who turns his attention back to
Jack and squeezes the trigger a hair tighter.
Jack shakes in fear and squeezes her eyes closed.

Riddick
The girl
— is nothing to me.

Chillingsworth
Then enlighten me.
Why would a stone-cold killer such as yourself
go to all the trouble of keeping the likes of her alive?
Unless, of course, you’ve grown attached.

Jack looked over at Riddick and Imam stuck his head out
of the foam as well.
Riddick kept his attention on the woman above him until
he sensed Jack watching him.
Then he looked back at her and took stock of Junner’s
grip on his weapon.

Riddick
She’s a cover story, nothing more.
You shoot her now, and you’ll be saving me the trouble.

Chillingsworth
Then I have your blessing.

Junner squeezed down on the trigger.
Jack whimpered and tears squeezed their way out of her eyes.
Riddick grunted and threw his shiv in such a way that
it forced Junner’s rifle up and away from Jackie’s head.
Chillingsworth turned and walked away as she spoke.

Chillingsworth
Maybe I know more about you than you do yourself.

Riddick
Now just ain’t the time.

Riddick stood and crushed the merc’s throat with his
heel before twisting his leg and breaking the man’s neck.

Chillingsworth
Lock them down. We’re done here.

Junner lifted his gun to reveal a blood drop on Jack’s forehead.
Mercs filed in to carry out the order.
Blink to Junner standing behind Chillingsworth.
As she speaks the camera pans down to show Riddick,
Imam, and Jack being rounded up and moved out under armed guard.
Jack is carried out by the back of her shirt.

Junner
My apologies.

Chillingsworth
You know how worthless those are to me.
You did well.
People die in this line of work, Junner.
A handful of men? A small price to pay.

Junner
What will you do with him?

Chillingsworth
Slowly, Junner.
Have Riddick brought to my conservatory.
I’ve something beautiful in mind.
And Junner, unfreeze some more mercs.

The skiff is expelled out into space like worthless trash.
It hits the engine housing of the Kubla Khan and
deflects off another direction.
Inside Riddick, strapped down to a immobilizing table,
Imam and Jack are led down a long hall under the escort of five mercs.

Imam
Have you ever seen anything like this before?

Riddick
Merc ships? Plenty. Just trying to figure out how it all goes together.

The camera shows that the hall is lined with filled cryo-tubes.

Imam
It is a plantation operation.
A boat like this loads up at port,
signs on as many men as it can hold,
then goes out for months,
sometimes years at a time.
However long it takes to fill their stores.

Riddick
Except a merchant rig’s usually harvesting ore,
maybe crops, not people.

Imam
Captured bounties on one side,
contracted manpower on the other.

Jack
Just add heat.

Riddick
You know a lot about this shit…
For a holy man.

Imam
I hear things.

Riddick
Must be a special kind of desperate dick signs on to this.

Camera focuses in on the merc walking next to Jack.
He rifle-butts Riddick in the face.

Pig Merc
Shut up!

Riddick
You’re the exception, of course.
For you it’s life experience.

The group reaches the end of the hall.
Waiting there is more mercs.

Jack
So, what’s the plan?
It’s not like we haven’t gotten out of worse.
The way I see it, we can take these jerks when
— hey!

A redheaded man grabs Jack by the shoulder.

Merc 2
This is where we get off princess.

Merc 3
You too, preacher.

Imam
I will pray.

Riddick
Not for me.

Riddick is wheeled off on way and Jack and Imam are taken the other.

Merc 2
Let’s go!

Jack
I won’t leave without you, Riddick! I’ll find you!

Camera focuses on Riddick as he’s wheeled away.
His face shows that he’s worried that Jack will find a
way to do just as she promises and will get herself
killed in the process. The scene fades out.
Fade in. The room is cool toned.
The light is blue. Twisted forms of human parody form
an eerie backdrop to the otherwise sterile room.
The group of mercs wheels in Riddick.
Junner is waiting.

Junner
Set him down and leave.

They release him from the holding table and wheel it away.
Riddick is left cuffed at the top of the stairs.
He pops his neck and walks forward down the glowing steps.
As he reaches the ground he realizes that the shapes
he’s seeing are formed by individual figures,
including the massive cone in the center of the chamber.
Other forms adorn the area as well,
all of the human, most of them twisted.
Junner stands waiting for his approach.
The dark haired man gestures for Riddick to precede him
further into the room.
The second figure in catches Riddick’s attention and
he stops for a closer look.
He notices that the male figure looks very life-like.

Riddick
Hmm.

Riddick looks down at the plaque beneath the male stature.
It reads “Killer of men FURYA”.
The form is nude and oddly it compels him to touch it.
He reaches his finger for it’s lip and gets licked.

Riddick
The hell –

Chillingsworth sets down her wine and moves over to the door.
The Furyan male looks her direction and Riddick’s attention is drawn that way too.
Junner slams something into Riddick’s neck sending him
to his knees. He gets a twisted grin.

Riddick
All right. Now you have my attention.

Chillingsworth
A necessary precaution.
You attempt anything uncivilized —
killing me, for instance
— I detonate the explosive charge Junner’s just
implanted and sleep very well tonight.
Walk with me.

Riddick
You’re not putting me on a pedestal.

Chillingsworth
No. Of course not.
You’re strictly for my private collection.

The camera moves in towards the cone in the center of
the room and pans over the many figures in it.
Blink to elsewhere on the Kubla Khan.
A female merc in a green and gray environ-suit walks
down a darkened hall.
She signals the sequence to de-ice the first of the
mercs she’s been ordered to wake up.
A confirmation request,
“revive: Toombs?” pops up.
She answers it with a yes.
The machinery sets to work retrieving his cryo-tube.
The fellow is ejected into a de-lousing chamber before
he’s fully aware and lands on his knees with a grunt.
He charges the glass…

Toombs
Miss me?

She steps back and collects herself before telling the chamber to delouse him.

Toombs
Mmm. Fresh as a daisy.

She inserts his gear.

Female commander
Suit up and report.
Must be something big,
them taking you off ice after what you pulled.

Toombs
Sister, I certainly aim to find out.

Toombs pulls his gun and looks at it with relish.
Back in the conservatory Chillingsworth and Riddick are
walking with Junner following behind.
The camera goes from following the trio to moving
through the cyan-lit figures around them.

Riddick
Hmm. Okay.
You go through all the trouble to catch these guys,
and this is what you do with them.

Chillingsworth
You’re missing the point.

Riddick
What point?
You got a million U.D.’s standing around collectin’ dust.

Camera settles in on Chillingsworth as she gestures to
individual forms and fondles a pair of rather twistedly
posed individuals. Then the camera pans around the room
again before settling back on the trio.

Chillingsworth
You underestimate their value, Riddick.
They are priceless.
Each, at one time, the most wanted man or woman in the known universe.
The number of lives ended at the hands of those living
and breathing in this room is incalculable.

Riddick
Ain’t what I’d call living.

Camera again starts on Chillingsworth who is enraptured
by one of the more handsome males in her collection.
She has her hands on his face.
As she speaks the camera moves inside him illustrating
that she is telling the horrific truth in the matter.
As it moves through the man it exits the way it entered
revealing the torment etched on the man’s face
before shimmering into blood red drapes.
The camera shows Riddick and Junner following
Chillingsworth into another area with even more twisted “statues”.
Chillingsworth finally stops at a curtained off
circular platform and turns to watch Riddick walk up.

Chillingsworth
Just the same, I assure you they are all very much alive.
Each one sustained in a form of cryo so profound…
that seconds seem weeks…
and to blink an eye is a day’s work.
The brain, however, continues to function unimpeded.
The mind continues to think and feel, swarming with
whatever dark thoughts it’s trapped alone with,
as it will be for hundreds of years.
So much more fitting a fate than dropping them off at the nearest slam.
Here, they are appreciated for what they truly are,
transformed into objects on par with their lives’ work.
And why?
Because I gave them the audience they so desperately desired,
the recognition they bought with the blood of others.
I understood their actions, stripped free of moral
convention. Don’t you see?
They’re something greater now, Riddick.
Something more than they ever were before.
-- Art.

Riddick
Lady, your taste sucks.

Chillingsworth
I expected as much. Junner.

Camera shows that Junner has been watching everything carefully.
At Chillingsworth’s order he lifts a remote control and
hits the button to raise the curtains.
The curtains rise to reveal a pit.
The edge of the platform is guarded by two mercs,
including the piggish fellow.
The pit is lit in blood red bands of light that run
around the walls.
Riddick stares out at it until Chillingsworth walks up to him.
He turns to look at her.

Chillingsworth
You see, Riddick,
there is a fundamental difference between you and I.

Riddick
Yeah. You’re a psychopath.

She places her hands on his face.

Chillingsworth
You don’t appreciate art.
But I believe the reason for this is something very different
than you or anyone else might think.
You’re an artist.

He shakes her hands off and gives her a look like she’s crazy.

Riddick
I’ve been called a lot of things in my day.
That ain’t one of ‘em.

Chillingsworth
You make art, Riddick, not analyze it.
You shape it with your own hands, carve it from flesh and bone.
But a man like you does not understand such a thing by being lectured.
You must experience it.

Chillingsworth gestures to Junner who turns off the
overhead lights bathing everything in a blood-red glow.
Riddick glances out into the pit and knows he’s in deep trouble.

Riddick
Oh, shit.

He walks out to the edge and the camera pulls back to
reveal Imam and Jack balanced on large globes,
suspended by their necks with their hands cuffed.
The angle changes to the floor showing that Riddick is
at least 10 feet above them.
Jack glances up.
A crazy pattern highlights the floor.

Jack
I said I’d find you, didn’t I?

Camera bounces to Riddick, Chillingsworth and Junner up on the ledge.
Chillingsworth leisurely moves about the space as she
speaks, finally gesturing toward the pit.

Riddick
What do you want?

Chillingsworth
To watch you work.
I’ve spent the latter half of my life observing fantastic things—
The work of terrible men, men such as yourself —
but it’s always after the fact when the moment of
bloody creation is cold and passed.
That changes now.

Junner hits another control to open double doors at the
far side of the lower room.
Jack is shown watching them open. She shows her fear.
Imam grits his teeth.
Back on the ledge Chillingsworth reclines like she’s at
an ancient feast.

Chillingsworth
I need to see it, Riddick.
I need to see it with my own eyes as it happens.

Riddick
I get outta there alive, you’ll see it again…

Riddick walks up as she turns her attention to a glass
of wine and bends into her personal space with menace.

Riddick
this close.

But she is not frazzled by his threat and moves in even
closer only to tease his chin with his shiv.
He lifts his head and glares at her before straightening up.
She tosses the weapon to the floor as she speaks.

Chillingsworth
No, Riddick.
I want your masterpiece.
An artist is nothing without his instrument.

He turns to retrieve it.
As he walks over to the blade Junner steps between Riddick and his mistress.
Riddick turns to Junner.

Riddick
When we meet again, I’m gonna bury this in your eye.

Camera lifts and focuses on Riddick following his hands
as he lifts his goggles and slowly opens his eyes to
show them shimmering in the faint reddish light.
The camera then flashes over to Junner,
who is shown in Riddick’s purplish vision.
Junner points to the pit.
Riddick turns to the task at hand.

Chillingsworth
Let him in.

The mercs walk forward and Riddick lets one behind him.
Then he spins downing the piggish merc with a kick to the head.
He retains his movement and guts the skinny merc who is
lifting his gun as the piggish one gets back to his feet.
The merc rushes Riddick in anger knocking them both over the edge into the pit.
Riddicik twists the fall so that the merc lands first
with the shiv at his throat.
But instead of killing him Riddick gets to his feet and moves away.
Chillingsworth sets down the control for the explosive
implant and picks up her opera glasses.

Chillingsworth
Go ultraviolet.

The light changes from blood-red to purple…
but only for Chillingsworth, Junner, and Riddick.
The image shown is of Riddick’s back.
Two colored blobs of light slowly take on scary shapes
as Riddick watches them.
Shift to Imam’s face, then over to Jack.
Pull back to show Riddick still focused on the glows.

Imam
I was on a pilgrimage. Just a pilgrimage.

Jack
This is bad, huh?

Riddick
Give it a minute.

Camera shows his vision.
A multi-tentacled creature with a brain like structure
spinning at its center is visible.
Pull back to show that there are two of them.

Riddick (softly)
Imam, pray.

Riddick turns sideways as the creatures advance on him.
Their colors darken as they go into attack mode.
The merc begins getting to his feet.
He is much closer to the creatures than Riddick is.
The closer creature takes a swipe at the man with a
tentacle that goes invisible in the dark as it moves.
Gunfire sprays the path where the appendage had been. It hits nothing.
The merc lowers his gun and gapes at the emptiness for
a split second before the creature snares him with all
four glowing arms and pulling him in.
He screams and shoots the ceiling.
As he does so the creature injects him
and he swells, bursting into glowing goo.
As Imam, Jack, and Riddick watch the second creature
zeros in on the other low target – Riddick.
But Riddick is not an easy catch.
He dodges. He cuts back.
He catches a tentacle and holds on.
The creature flicks him off into the sphere that Jack is balanced atop.
She screams and begins to strangle before Imam rolls
his sphere over and under her feet.
The pair grabs each other in fear.
Riddick gets back to his feet.
The creature comes at him and he swings his shiv
with a well-timed blow.
It’s enough to get the creature to back away.
Riddick advances with a series of blocks,
pressing his advantage.
Imam and Jack watch the eerie and deadly display but
the second creature is onto them.
It advances and raises its tentacles to attack.
Imam and Jack cringe,
grab the rope attached to their collars,
and push the globe into the creature to push it
away from both them and Riddick.
Riddick hears the gagging,
turns and dodges the first creature,
jumps on the back of the second creature,
and cuts them down.
The three land with a hard thud.

Riddick
Get her on her feet.

Imam
I cannot see!

Riddick
You don’t want to.

Riddick is watching the two creatures advance on them.
They threaten with their tentacles.
But Riddick is like a snake charmer,
smoothly weaving his body against their rather
regular attack pattern.
The creature shot forward with its stinger
and Riddick thrust his shackle into the path.
The chains shattered.
He pointed his shiv at it.

Riddick
You wanna go? Let’s go.

It slung a tentacle at him and he handily slices it off.
The two creatures pause.
The camera jumps to Chillingsworth’s eyes as she watches the fight.

Chillingsworth
Beautiful, beautiful creature.

The camera pulls back to show Junner also watching.

Junner
Shrill are an exquisite species.

Chillingsworth
I’m talking about the man.

Back in the pit Riddick watches the uninjured
creature’s attempt to protect the injured one.
The pair moves in perfect counterpoint to each other.
He focuses on them ready for their next move.

Jack
They’re gonna kill him!

Jack tries to move to Riddick’s defense and Imam pulls her back.
Riddick stands coiled for action… waiting.
The two creatures move apart and he steps back defensively.
The pair of shrill go dark.
Camera moves to Jack.
She is listening, watching…
She hears the injured shrill before Riddick.
Her gasp sets him into motion and he barrels a
sphere into it before cutting it in half.
Riddick is surprised that it goes down.
In his distraction he turns his back to look at it.

Riddick
Huh?

Jack
No!

Jack screams the warning as Riddick turns to see the
other shrill nearly on him.
Imam struggles to keep Jack back.
The shrill catches Riddick by the arms and immobilizes him.
Jack watches in panic and horror before getting free.
She runs forward, picks up the fallen tentacle and
whips it around the shrill’s ‘neck’ that leads to its stinger.
It flips her away like a toy but she lands near Riddick’s blade.
The shrill readies itself to inject its captive…
And Riddick moves in such a way that it cuts its own tentacle off.

Jack
Riddick?

Jack picks up Riddick’s shiv
and he reaches his hand to catch it as she throws.

Riddick
Here!

It is a solid catch.
He cuts his other hand free and the shrill rears its stinger back.
Riddick whips the tentacle around his arm into the
center of the creature ant allows it to pull him in.
With a bright flash of light the fight is over.
The room goes dark.
As the lights come back on clapping mars the silence.
Jack is curled on her side.
Imam and Riddick are both kneeling.
Riddick drops his head and slips his goggles into place.
He stands.
Chillingsworth and Junner are watching from the balcony.
The camera moves to her as speaks.

Chillingsworth
Bravo!
The grace, the expression, the sheer violence of it. Exquisite.

Back in the pit…
Imam and Jack are both looking up toward Chillingsworth like she is nuts.
Riddick is angered, but he sees an opportunity…

Riddick
Give —

Imam
What?

Riddick
Give me the knife.

Imam reaches for the shiv buried in the shrill corpse.
Chillingsworth is wrapped up in her own gushing review
of the battle.

Chillingsworth
Such a complete and thorough performance.
It leaves only one question.

Camera flashes back to Imam who is holding the blade and pans over to Jack.

Jack
I got a feeling you’re not gonna like it.

Back to Chillingsworth, a close up of her eyes as they close.
The camera shows a shot of Imam tossing Riddick the
shiv then it goes back to Chillingsworth.

Chillingsworth
How will I ever have you mounted to do it justice?

Camera back to Riddick.
He grimaces and raises the blade to his own neck.

Chillingsworth
What are you – No!

The scene shows Riddick from the back,
shiv at the ready.
Chillingsworth realizes suddenly that he’s going for
the explosive charge implanted in his neck.
Riddick begins digging the charge out as Jack watches with alarm.
Chillingsworth turns and dives for her remote.
Jack looks nauseous as Riddick’s fingers emerge holding
the tiny mechanical octopus like device.
Chillingsworth fumbles for her remote
before getting a grip on it.

Jack
You gonna keep that?

Chillingsworth
Looks like you’ll have to be an abstract piece.

But Riddick is fast on his feet.
He throws the explosive.

Riddick
Down! Now!

Jack and Imam dive for cover.
Riddick turns and runs a few steps before Chillingsworth detonates the charge
blowing a large hole in the wall with the exact device
she intended on killing Riddick with.
The explosion knocks Riddick flat.
Chillingsworth watches from the ledge fuming in anger,
waiting for the smoke to clear.
Junner approaches.
Down on the pit floor, Jack pulls Riddick to his feet with a grunt.
He groans as he comes to.
Imam dodges for the hole.
Chillingsworth realizes that her ‘art’ is escaping. Her anger knows no bounds.

Chillingsworth
We’ll need to rouse a substantial pursuit force.

Junner
Who?

Chillingsworth
All of them!
Even the ‘Golls!
Any man or thing that can hold a weapon!
Every last one! Now!

She grinds her foot into Junner’s in her anger.
The next scene is the Mercs being brought out of cryo en-mass.
Then Toombs is shown doing his own bit of informal
research in the abandoned control room.
He plugs into one of the stations and begins searching
the database.
Riddick’s record is still at the top of the stack.
The 1.126.000 UD’s bounty gets his attention.
Shortly after the woman in charge of him spots his
unauthorized access of the computer.

Toombs
All right.
Just what’s the big deal?
Oh! Jumping Jesus.
Oh, come to Papa, you beautiful bald bastard.

Female Commander
Toombs, what in the hell are you doing?

Toombs
Just gathering intel.

Female Commander
Yeah, well, stow it.
We got a couple of runners to bring in.
Shoot on sight.

Toombs
Yes, sir.

Toombs salutes the woman’s back but brushes off her growl.
Fade to deep in the ship.
The gravity is off.
Riddick and Imam come sailing through the archway into
deeper darkness.
Jack trails them with difficulty as she’s not used to
moving in this environment.
Behind them four mercs move into the pit and survey the mess.
Toombs and the female commander are two of the four.
Toombs steps in something sticky and squishy

Toombs
What in the hell happened here?

Female commander
Shut up and take point.

Above them, watching their progress through the pit
and into the ship beyond is Chillingsworth.
Toombs notices her and gives her a salute.
But she has a wild, unhinged look in her eyes…

Female commander
Burn ‘em

Toombs
Grab your panties, boys.

The gravity comes on.
Riddick is still in the lead.
Imam and Jack trail him.
Jack is still having trouble scrambling over the parts
of the ship that are in the way.
A roar shudders through the ship.

Jack
What the hell was that?

Riddick
Don’t move.

The second wave of trackers enters the pit.
These are half mechanical and half flesh.
They struggle to control a monster of huge proportions
that walks on mechanical legs.
Whatever the base creature was
it’s been mutated out of recognition.
A handler swabs up some blood and offers it to the monster.
It eats the swab.

‘Goll Handler
Turn it loose.

It’s not like the other 6 ‘Golls have a choice.
5 succeed in letting go of the ropes.
The 6th is carried off into the bowels of the ship as
the monster sets off in a single minded hunt.
Flash to Riddick scaling upwards.
He pulls himself over the edge of the item he’s
climbing and reaches back down for Jack just as the
first tracker team spots them.
Jack is caught in their light as she’s pulled up.
She looks back at them.

Toombs
What the—

Gunfire cuts through the darkness.
Riddick takes a scrape to his shoulder and nearly drops Jack.
He catches her by her pants and flips her up over his
head before turning over and inching away from the edge.

Imam
You’re badly hurt.

Jack
Him?
He almost tore me in half.

Riddick
Just a graze this time.

The creature is hot on the pursuit also.
It roars as it drags the screaming, entangled ‘Goll.
The Mercs set up the same route Riddick Imam and Jack took.
The creature roars again.
Toombs knows what it means.

Toombs
That bitch. Move!

He kicks his climb into high gear at the expense of the
merc in front of him, climbing over the top of the cyborg.
Riddick, Imam, and Jack finally hit a flat area and
break out into a near full run.
Jack is nearly out of energy though.
Riddick stops and looks back at her.
He’s got to find another way.

Imam
We cannot stop.

Riddick
We’re not outrunning this thing, not the three of us.

Jack
What? I can keep up!

Riddick
Maybe someday.

Riddick stops and looks up.
They are just below a docking bay.
He scans around.

Riddick
Get her to the flight deck.

Imam
It’s just aft, upper level.

Riddick
Yeah. Stow in there and let whatever’s following pass.

He points to a sheltered spot.
Imam and Jack do as ordered.

Riddick
When it does make for the flight deck
and don’t look back,
no matter what you hear.

Jack
We’ll wait for you.

Riddick
Follow Imam.

Jack
What are you going to do?

She watches his back retreat into the darkness.
The camera follows Riddick as he cuts a deep gash in
his arm for a blood trail.
Imam and Jack sit tight as the four mercs pass them.
Toombs comes to a screeching halt when he notices the
blood drops on the floor.
He looks up, then back
before finally taking off after the other 3 mercs.

Jack
Now where do we gotta go to meet up with Ridd—

Imam puts his hand over her mouth.

Imam
Jack! Shhhh.

He looks over to the edge of their hiding spot as heavy
metallic footsteps approach.
The ship shudders under the monster’s weight.
It catches scent of the blood trail and roars as it comes into sight.
Imam sits tight until he’s sure that the creature is gone.
He peeks out before emerging.
Jack follows him and looks the direction Riddick went.
Imam is already running the opposite way.
He stops and looks back at her.

Jack
We’ve got to help him, Imam.
We can’t help him if we leave.

He walks back to Jack.
Jack squeezes her eyes closed as Imam speaks.
She is visibly torn.

Imam
Sometimes that is exactly how it works.

Lights cut into the gloom.
The mercs are looking for their targets.

Female Commander
Sweep it.

Her two fellows slowly spread out to provide more lighted cover.

Cute Merc
I got something

Female Commander
Check it out.

The cute merc scouts forward.
The camera follows him.
He kneels down to look at a bloody bit of cloth.
He picks it up and looks at it.
Toombs turns at glances his way
and realizes that they are right in the middle of a carefully laid trap.
As he screams his warning the fellow drops the blood filled cloth.

Toombs
Don’t touch that!

Female commander
Oh, shit.

Footsteps shake the hull as the ‘Goll monster comes their way -
getting closer.
Toombs turns to look and backs up.
The other mercs follow his lead.
They ready their guns.
But as the monster rounds the corner Toombs knows their guns are no match for it.
The thing roars at them.
The other 3 mercs begin firing at will.
The creature cuts down the cute merc.
Toombs turns his attention to the sewage pipe,
blows a hole in it and dives into it as the female
commander becomes a light snack.
The creature then goes for the pipe,
and knocks the cyborg down and steps on him.
The monster looks upwards as a screaming Riddick falls down onto it
and buries his shiv into the only spot that will kill it.
Flash to Riddick picking up his old tank

Riddick
I ain’t putting that back on.

He looks around and spots the cyborg’s torso,
and notes that the fellow’s tank would fit.
Imam pushes a panel in the floor out of place.
He and Jack have reached the flight deck.
He raises his head through and looks around.
It looks clear.
He pulls himself through only to get a rifle-butt to the head.
Jack notes him clear the opening and heads up herself
only to have Junner grab her by the scruff of the neck.
She actually punches him twice in the face
but gets no reaction other than to be slammed back
against a hard surface and have the life squeezed out of her.
With his spare hand Junner straightens his glasses.
Jack flips him off and claws at his gloved hand around her throat.
But she feels the life slipping away.

Riddick
Let her go.

Junner
Hmm.

Junner drops Jack as he turns to look at Riddick’s approach.

Riddick
It’s me you’re after.
You want a shot at the title?

Riddick punches his fist in anger.
Junner removes his coat.
He unsheathes his gun.
Riddick pulls his shiv.
Junner takes the sword apart from the rifle which he
drops to the floor and slides away.
The two men assess one another.
Riddick charges in closer but pulls up short,
just shy of Junner’s reach.
Junner makes a jab.
Riddick kicks the blade away and moves in closer.
He makes a swipe for Junner’s throat and misses as the
taller fellow neatly dodges to the side and back.
Junner and Riddick dance around each other in a circle of near deadly jabs,
each one moving away as the other attacks.
Junner makes a thrust, and Riddick catches his sword hand.
They exchange punches.
Junner pushes Riddick back and rushes him.
Riddick bashes him aside and goes defensive.
They circle again.
A jab here, countered with a kick there.
A thrust sent wildly off with a body slam.
The two men end up locked in position,
each griping the other’s blade hand.
Junner finally breaks the impasse with a kick.
After a series of blows blocked blade to blade,
Riddick’s shiv goes flying.
He ducks, catches Junner’s sword arm,
and forces the blade out of his hand.
Junner knees him in the leg, ducks,
and comes up swinging.
The two of the duke it out, brutally.
Finally Junner kicks Riddick into a stack of crates.
Parts and cable fly.
Junner picks his sword back up.
He advances.
Riddick cannot reach his shiv, but he can reach the power cable…
Junner makes a swing, Riddick rolls away,
snags the cable and flips a loop around Junner’s neck.
He pulls.
Junner chokes.
Riddick pulls harder.
Junner cuts the cable… Darkness.
Riddick cannot be seen, but Junner hears him…
then there’s a crunch followed by a wet squish.
Junner screams.
The emergency lights come on…
Junner’s body hits the floor… shiv buried in eye.

Riddick
I told you that was coming.

The camera is on Imam and Jack.
Imam is waking up and rubbing his head.
Jack looks to be out cold.
Imam struggles to his feet and spots Riddick holding
his arm like he’s been injured.
Imam kneels down next to Jack.
The scene switches to Riddick who still has his goggles up.
He’s walking over to the closest shuttle.

Imam
Wh-where are you going?

Riddick
Gonna prep this ship and get off this heap.

Imam
So we can escape?

Imam is holding Jack by the shoulders.
She sits slumped, as if she’s been defeated.
Riddick merely motions for Imam to follow him.
Imam’s face brightens somewhat.
Riddick approaches the ship and reaches for the manual
lever to open the door.
He turns it and the door begins to open.
Imam gently helps Jack up.

Imam
It is over. We have survived.

But as the door opens another surprise awaits them…
Riddick turns just in time to see Chillingsworth showing her age and totally unglued.
She cackles like a madwoman before leveling an ancient gun at him.
She pulls the trigger.
Riddick falls.

Chillingsworth
Back to hell with you, you bloody stinking savage!

She advances on his prone form and raises the ancient weapon again.
A boom rings out…
Flash to the outside of the Kubla Khan,
fade in on feet sticking out of bloodstained white cloth,
crumpled on the floor.
Pan up the body…
to show that Chillingsworth no longer has a head.
Blood streams across the floor.
Riddick begins getting to his feet.
Behind him Jack holds a smoking gun.

Riddick
Im—

Jack
Yeah, we made it.

Riddick
Awfully uncivilized thing you just did there, Jack.

The scene blurs to show a shuttle leaving the Kubla Khan.
Next shot is Riddick lounging at the controls.
Imam moves forward and sits in the next seat.

Imam
Riddick.

Riddick
Trouble?

Imam
Yes. It is nothing back there.
What worries me lies ahead of us.

Pull back to show Jack lying on a bench hugging Junner’s gun.

Riddick
Jack.

Imam
I am concerned for her, Riddick, that she’ll become—

Riddick
Like me.

Focus on Jack sleeping for a moment then jump to a star map.
The computer beeps.
Riddick glances over everything and finally settles his
eyes on the reading that says “UV system”.
Imam looks over his shoulder.
At his question Riddick flips a switch showing New Mecca on Helion Prime.

Imam
What is that place?

Riddick
That’s nowhere. I’m dropping you guys on New Mecca.

Riddick shifts the shuttle’s engines into high gear and
the ship takes off in a burst of speed.
Back on the Kubla Kahn Toombs watches the ship disappear.

Toombs
Riddick.
We ain’t done boy.
Not by a long shot.

Pull back to show Toombs standing in an empty flight deck and fade to black.
