From Florence to Machiavelli’s house,

about 15 km South of Florence, Italy,

in Sant’ Andrea in Percussina,

Machiavelli’s house where he wrote The Prince

is now a museum. It is near San Casciano Val di Pesa

on the map www.mappoint.com, exit the motorway A1

at Firenze Certosa, or the Siena motorway at

San Casciano Val di Pesa.

Across the road from Machiavelli's residence,

you’ll find l’ Albergaccio - Taverna Machiavelli.

This place was most certainly where he used to hang out,

since it was the old neighborhood tavern.

Five centuries later, it's a fine restaurant with a typical

Tuscan menu and an extensive wine list.

About 8 Euro (2003). This is also a great place to stop

for a merenda (afternoon snack) of bruschetta (grilled

bread rubbed with garlic, brushed with olive oil,

and topped with fresh tomatoes) and a glass of wine

(their own Chianti, of course).

Proprietors of the restaurant will take clients across the
