Ray Sparks, is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada, having earned both his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees. His teaching career began in Nova Scotia in 1978, but his quest for adventure led him to teach in the Canadian sub-arctic, in Germany with the Canadian Department of Defense, and in Japan at Canadian Academy. Ray's experience has been varied, having taught Elementary grades 1 and 3, Middle School grades 6 and 7, and Physical Education to grades K-11. Ray's wife, Mary, is also a teacher and a graduate of St. Fraancis Xavier.

Ray Sparks of Search Associates
Ray has always enjoyed taking leadership roles in various school committees and professional development courses, both in Canada and in schools abroad. Known for his positive and energetic spirit, Ray has always been involved with extra-curricular activities, such as sports and debating. As an active member of the community, Ray has organized Terry Fox runs both in Nova Scotia and Japan, and has chaired road races and fund raising activities for various community groups.
Ray and Mary, and their 2 children, have wonderful memories of living and travelling in Europe and Asia. Ray is excited about remaining in the international school scene by helping teachers to find positions overseas, and to being the first former SEARCH candidate to become a Senior Associate.
