Kaguya Shima Densetsu

1999 Spring Special Musical – Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: Legend of Kaguya Island

The Comet Quartle has once again returned to the Solar System. 5000 years ago, Dark Plasman and his underlings tried to take over the Earth, but they were foiled when the Moon Princess used her power to change the orbit of the Earth.
This saved the Earth, but the tidal changes that resulted destroyed much of the civilization on Earth – including the greatest empire of the time, Arutika.
This time, Plasman and his underlings: Dark Menorah, Leah Ruby, Zilpha Sapphire, and Bilhah Emerald will not fail.

Meanwhile, on Earth, the alter-identities of the Sailor Senshi: Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako are excited about their Spring Break – they are going on vacation to Kaguya Island to go on a treasure hunt. They invite the rest of their team: Mamoru, Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna and Hotaru to join them.
Their travel agent, however, turns out to be Leah Ruby in disguise. She has come down to Earth from the comet to lure the girls onto Kaguya Island. One of them is the owner of the Silver Crystal. If they can get that, they will have the power they need to take over the Earth.

Someone else has been watching: Space Pirate Loof Mellow and her pirate-underlings Keirun, Serpen and Kracken. They know that the only reason Quartle would be interested in these girls is if one of them has the Silver Crystal. They have also been waiting for 5000 years for this chance. They will beat Quartle to the Crystal and prevent the girls from reaching the Island.

On their cruise ship to the island, there is trouble from both sides for the senshi. The captain of the ship is Zilpha Sapphire in disguise and two of the sailors are the pirates.
The trip seems to be going peacefully until a storm strikes at night.
Loof Mellow and her pirates attack, forcing the girls to transform into their senshi forms.
If they can find out who Sailor Moon is, they can get the Crystal.

Despite Loof Mellow's best efforts, the storm washes the cruise ship onto the island, where the senshi instantly revert back to their normal forms. Something about Kaguya Island has sealed their power within them. Now they are just normal girls.

Their tour guide, Bilhah Emerald in disguise, tries to make light of the shipwreck by reminding the girls why they have come – for a treasure hunt! Usagi is the only one successful on her hunt – she scores three jewels.
During a romantic scene with Mamoru, they are interrupted by the arrival of Chibiusa from the 30th century. She fought with her mother and is running away from home.

After she arrives, they meet three inhabitants of the island: Three kittens Mikku, Fukku and Kukku. Chibiusa is somehow able to understand them, even though the rest can't.
They are upset because Usagi stole their missing jewels. The jewels are the tears of their long lost mothers, who vanished into the sky 5000 years ago. The three kittens are patiently waiting for their mothers to return.

After everyone is assembled, the pirates attack. Loof Mellow demands that Usagi surrender the Silver Crystal to them.
The Pirates don't get to attack properly because the Comet crew arrives as well. They immediately start fighting against each other – to the winner goes the Silver Crystal.
Usagi gets caught up in the middle of the fight when a mysterious figure in silver comes to her rescue.
He identifies himself only as Space Knight, and fights off both sides to protect her. But then, he turns sides a bit and protects Loof Mellow as well.

All seems to be going well until Dark Plasman arrives on the scene. He is about to attack when a glowing light fends him off.
Hotaru enters, but it's not really Hotaru. A spirit of the island named Kon is borrowing her body so she can communicate with the others, and help them fight off Plasman.

The next morning, Usagi saves the day by greeting her tired and hungry friends with a breakfast feast she just found sitting on the beach. They are mostly too hungry to care where it came from.
Setusna, however, spots movement in the bushes. Later, as the group splits up to take care of various tasks, she goes off on her own to investigate the mysterious figure she saw.
She finds him a scene later – it's someone she knows well. Chibiusa's father, king Endymion has followed his daughter back in time to keep an eye on her and the rest.

Meanwhile, Loof Mellow is in a strange mood. Her heart has felt strange ever since she met Space Knight. She is in love.
Setsuna and the Space Knight rush in being chased by Dark Menorah. Chibiusa has been kidnapped (it happened offstage) and they were trying to rescue her.
Loof Mellow drives off Dark Menorah and sends her underlings to find their hide out.
Then she gets to see Space Knight properly: He's King Endymion in disguise.
Now that she knows who he is, she decides to give a proper introduction to herself: Loof Mellow, Princess of Arutika.

The next scene is split between three groups on the stage. Kon tells the senshi of the history of the island, and the history of the kittens.
Endymion and Loof Mellow talk about the role that Arutika played in saving the Earth 5000 years ago, and the reason that the senshi cannot transform.
The jewel girls from the comet are lamenting about how they cannot find the children they left on the island 5000 years ago.

Eventually, all three groups hurry off to the Temple of Arutika – all that remains of the Great Empire. It is also the place where Quartle planted their Dark Crystals that will allow them to take over the Earth. And it is the place where they are keeping Chibiusa.
They all arrive for a big fight scene and more drama.

The pirates are the first to fall, protecting their captain and princess, Loof Mellow. She decides that the only way to stop Plasman is to break the seal that is keeping the senshi from transforming. Only Arutikan Royalty have that power, but the cost is high: her life.

Once Loof Mellow breaks the seal, the senshi are able to transform, and Sailor Moon and co fight against the Comet.
As hinted, the kittens are the children that Quartle left behind the last time they were here... but they are also friends of Chibiusa and the other senshi, so Dark Plasman removes them, much to the sorrow of the Jewel girls.
They just got their children back, only to have them die in their arms.
The jewel girls revolt against Dark Plasman, but he removes them as well.

All of this has just made the senshi, Sailor Moon in particular, very angry. With the arrival of Tuxedo Mask to complete their team, all of the senshi, Kon, Tuxedo Mask and Endymion manage to defeat Plasman and Quartle passes harmlessly past the Solar System.

Once again, the earth has been saved
