Kaguya Shima Densetsu

1999 Spring Special Musical – Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: Legend of Kaguya Island

Stage Two

Scene 1: Comet Quartile ~ Communication between Kaguya Island and Plasma Hall"

Plasman is pondering what he learned before intermission – why is Princess Moon on the island? Why have the Comet girls been wasting their time fooling around with those other girls when they have more important things to do.

Leah Ruby volunteers that the Dark Crystals they left on the island have grown greatly because of all of the destruction of nature on the Earth.
It even stops the senshi from transforming.
Plasman is not impressed – despite all of that they still haven't gotten the Silver Crystal.

In his song "Star Glory" he reminds them of how close they were last time, and how they were interrupted. Their dreams were destroyed.
Now they have a second chance, and the same thing will not happen to them again.
The Comet girls are encouraged, they will succeed, and they will be the ones to shine in the Solar System.

But Dark Plasman ponders. No matter how dark and strong he is, Princess Moon can still get to him. She destroyed their dream last time, he ought to hate her but he can't.
Her being on Earth throws a wrench in his plans.... Because, deep inside, he likes her.

But he won't let that get in the way this time. They will take the Silver Crystal and take over the Earth.

Scene 2: dawn after the night, on the beach

The next morning, Ami, Rei, Minako and Makoto are on the beach, discussing developments. They are tired and hungry and stranded on this island. To top it off, their powers are sealed, so they can't transform.
Minako declared that she is definitely Not Coming Back next summer.
If they can't transform, how are they going to protect Usagi and the Silver Crystal? "Hyouchaku Shita Keredo... (We've made it to shore but...)" is the next song.

All of them are out of their element. Ami doesn't know anything about this island so she feels lost. Minako is worried too. They are cut off from the rest of the world, and she's hungry.
Even Rei's spiritual sense isn't working properly, she can't sense anything besides just the evil aura.
Makoto is at a loss too. If they were at home, they would be able to deal with this, but they're stuck here in the middle of no where.

Usagi and Chibiusa run in with food – all cooked and prepared on plates. Mamoru comes in a moment later, playing waiter.
Usagi says that she got the fish from the ocean and the fruit from the forest.
When the others ask where she got it from she says it doesn't matter.
The other four arrive just in time for the meal.

Usagi starts a cheerful song about how she found the food – the fish jumped out of the water. (And something about kittens on the waves)
While they are eating, Mamoru again questions where the food came from.
Meanwhile, Setsuna spots movement in the bushes.

There, hiding behind his silver cape is a figure that she, at least, knows well – King Endymion from the 30th century. He is dressed in an apron and carrying some fish on a string.
He motions for Setsuna to keep quiet, while Usagi tells the truth – she just found the food sitting on the beach.

Haruka explains why she and Michiru weren't with the others – they were scouting around, but they haven't seen any sign of the enemy.
They have figured out that this whole thing was just a ploy to trap them on the island.
But, Usagi adds, part of it was true. She brings out the jewels that she's been carrying around since the night before: She has a Ruby, a Sapphire and an Emerald.
While the girls are admiring the jewels, and while Mamoru is trying to get them to focus, the kittens come out again and start meowing
They want their jewels back.
Once again Chibiusa translates. Usagi accuses Chibiusa of making it up because she wants the jewels.
They start fighting again, but Setsuna breaks them up.

So they start figuring out what to do. Minako and Makoto go off to find firewood. Ami and Rei go to start an SOS bonfire on the beach. Haruka, Michiru and Hotaru are off to the old house they were exploring yesterday when Hotaru got a visitor.
Setsuna offers to go exploring on her own.
Mamoru and Usagi are off to check out the jewel cave again to see if it will serve as shelter.
A sulky Chibiusa stays behind on the beach with the kittens.

The kittens explain a bit more about themselves – since Chibiusa can understand them. They have been on this island for thousands of years waiting for their mothers.
Kon has told them that one day their mothers will return.

Kon is a spirit, they call her a Light Princess, their protective god. She is the person that was speaking through Hotaru.
Kon knows everything about the island and the past. And she said that their mothers would come.
But it has been such a long time... maybe their mothers aren't coming back after all.

Chibiusa thinks maybe they are right. She starts the next song "Okaasan te nan darou (What is a mother?)"
She does a bit of a reprise of her earlier song, about how she hates her mother scolding her.
The kittens wonder what it's like to be scolded. They only have very faint memories of their mothers disappearing into the skies... and crying.
Their tears turned into their jewels.
So they wait for their mothers to return.
Chibiusa says that they don't know how mean mothers can be. That's why they want to see theirs.
Endymion comes in, unseen and adds a verse to the song. Mothers scold because they love, and then he leaves.

The reason that the kittens want their jewels back is because they are their mothers' tears.
Chibiusa assures them that Usagi will return them if she knows how important they are.
The kittens are delighted and offer to show Chibiusa around.

Endymion watches them run off.
Setsuna finds him and asks if he brought the food. He says that people panic if they are hungry.
Setsuna says that she knew he would come to keep an eye on Small Lady (Chibiusa)
He says that he wishes that Chibiusa and Neo Queen Serenity wouldn't fight so much. (Just like how Mamoru wishes Chibiusa and Usagi wouldn't fight so much....)
Setsuna says that it must be hard being a father.
He agrees and then changes the subject.

He knows what's going on, and he remembers reading about the Comet Quartle.
But he's interrupted by the return of the kittens. They have Chibiusa's purse and are meowing frantically. She's in trouble!

Scene 3: Last night on a nearby beach ~ Night ~

Loof Mellow is wandering around in a bit of a daze when a voice scares her. Her underlings are frantically apologizing for failing to get the Silver Crystal again.
She yells at them, and then sits down quietly.

The three pirates confer. Loof Mellow has been in bad spirits since last night – alternating between being angry, and sighing.
Suddenly she cries out. She can't breathe and her heart is pounding.
There is a brief pause for a small physical comedy routine from the three pirates before Loof Mellow returns to the matter at hand... she can't breathe, and she has a fuzzy sort of feeling.

Kracken of them suggests that she has heart burn (mune yake). What follows is a series of puns on the Japanese word for heartburn: mune yake.
Loof Mellow asks what that is.
Another one of her pirates starts to say that you get it when you spend a lot of time out in the snow – but that's shimo yake (frost bite)
Another starts talking about yuu-yake (sunset).
There are a few more, and she declares that they are too mixed up.
So she tries again, and he states again, "When playing in the snow...."
But she cuts it off before they can go through all of that again.

Finally though, they figure it out. Heartburn is when you eat or drink too much.
Loof Mellow asks if heartburn can be cause by meeting someone, but Kracken doesn't think so. So they go off to find stomach medicine for her.

Alone now, Loof Mellow ponders. Is it really heartburn? "Just love wasurerarenai (Just love, can't forget it)"
She has always relied on herself to get through all the storms in her life. Of course she has her underlings, but that isn't the same. But the man who saved her... when he touched her... she'll never forget the way he looked at her... the way he touched her.
In that moment, she gave her heart to him.

Suddenly, Setsuna comes running in, closely followed by the Space Knight. He's fighting against Dark Menorah, trying to protect Setsuna.
Unfortunately, this time he's not doing so well.
Loof Mellow fires off a shot, which brings her pirates running.
Menorah runs off, as she's out numbered now.
Space Knight – Endymion – calls after her to return Small Lady. Loof Mellow says that hostage taking is cowardly and she sends her pirates off to find where they are keeping her.
They head off, but before they do, Kraken give her the stomach medicine he went off to fetch.
Loof Mellow says that she's feeling much better now. That puts her pirates in a good mood and they hurry off.

Leaving Loof Mellow and Endymion alone. He has lost his shades and finally Loof Mellow gets to have a proper look at him.
He thanks her for helping, and she says that she owed him. Now they are even.
But when he crumples to the ground, wounded, she hurries over to help him sit down.
Loof Mellow assures him that her pirates will find them.

She finally gets to ask what has been bothering her since yesterday – why did he save her?
Endymion says that he recognized the symbol on her necklace. He doesn't know her, but he has seen the symbol before in the ancient documents left over from the moon.
It's the symbol of an ancient royal family...
Loof Mellow finally gives herself a proper introduction: Loof Mellow, from Earth's empire greatest empire, Arutika: Princess.

Scene 4: Grove of bamboo, in a dilapidated house ~ evening ~

The others are looking for Chibiusa and Setsuna.
The kittens run in, meowing frantically again. Usagi pulls the jewels out of her bag – at some point she put them on strings – and hangs them around the kittens' necks.
Now they are happy kittens. They start calling and Kon, borrowing Hotaru's body, comes out of a cave.
Kon introduces herself as a lost star, the collected memories of the stars destroyed by Quartile. She's borrowing Saturn's body to talk to them.
And she decides to use her powers to make the kittens talk.

The kittens introduce themselves: Mikku, Kukku and Fukku. (I've seen them as Mick, Cook and Hook as well)
Kon explains, the children were changed into kittens so they would not be bothered by anyone. (Fukku sits in Haruka's lap). Kon says they have been here, alone on the island for 5000 years.

Meanwhile, Leah Ruby, Zilpha Sapphire and Bilhah Emerald are losing hope. They can't find Them anywhere.
Bilhah Emerald says that maybe it would have been better if they had died along with their children.
Leah Ruby is upset by that statement – They have to be alive!
Zilpha Sapphire says that it has been too long

In the third corner of the stage, Loof Mellow is talking to Endymion. She says that 5000 years ago, in the Arutika empire, there was a temple that governed the order of the Solar System. Dark Plasman tried to drop four dark crystals in the temple. Only three fell into the temple, but before the fourth one could fall, the Moon Princess changed the Earth's orbit.
Endymion says that her story is just what he read in the ancient documents from the moon.
The Moon Princess saved the earth, Loof Mellow continues, but the earthquakes and tidal waves that followed destroyed Arutika. All that remains is this island – part of the temple.
Quartle is back for the power of the dark crystals.

The narration returns to Kon. Quartle cannot use the dark crystals unless all four are together. But the damage that humanity has done to their planet has made the dark crystals grow stronger.
That's why Quartile is back, and that's why they cannot reach their powers.
Ami is about to ask how to break the seal when the kittens interrupt: Chibiusa has been kidnapped and is being held in the temple!

Kon says that even though they cannot transform, she knows they can win. She says that the Moon Princess that saved the Earth 5000 years ago was Usagi's ancestor.

There is an explosion. Dark Plasman has returned to the blue planet earth.
Loof Mellow helps Endymion up and they hurry off to the temple.
Kon and the senshi also head in that direction.

Scene 5: In the Earth Empire Arutika's rotted temple.

Chibiusa is tied up in the temple, being guarded by Dark Menorah.
Setusna is sneaking around. The pirates are doing a less sneaky job sneaking around.

The three Jewel Girls return, just as Setsuna makes a noise.
Menorah demands to know who's there, and the pirates stroll out.
The Jewel Girls point out that now they know where they are, so the pirates decide to run off and hide. But they realize that's no good because the Comet girls already know that they're there.

They were trying to distract the comet girls from the fact that Setsuna was sneaking over to Chibiusa, but she gets caught anyway.
Even though she can't become Pluto, Setsuna does her best to fight. (It isn't too successful)
After much thought, they realize that an enemies' enemy is an ally. So they dive in to protect Setsuna.
Plasman comes in and tells them to stop fooling around. He zaps the Pirates and is about to dispose of them when Loof Mellow and Endymion come running in.
Soon after, the Kittens come in followed by the senshi.
Plasman laughs when he sees the kittens – he calls them the Dark Crystal seeds.

There is slight confusion when they see Loof Mellow with the Space Knight – they thought she was a bad guy, but now she appears to be on their side.
Plasman thanks them for all gathering together, and he swings his staff, shooting power at them, but Space Knight is able to deflect it.
Plasman is confused – no one from this time should be able to deflect his attack.
It's a good thing that Endymion isn't from this time. He's the 30th century King and he won't surrender the universe to the likes of Plasman!

Plasman abandons his plan of attacking all of them, and instead he orders Menorah to put the kittens into the dark Crystals.
The kittens move forward in a bit of a trance, but a shot from Loof Mellow's gun-sword breaks the spell.
Endymion remembers something important – the key to the seal is...

Plasman calls Menorah over to him and she opens her shirt, revealing glowing lights that send everyone tumbling to the ground. She is the fourth dark crystal.
Loof Mellow calls out: they can't let her join the other three crystals or the earth will be destroyed!
Her pirates spring into action. But first Keirun is wounded, and then Plasman shoots a bolt of power at them, bringing all of them to the ground.
It's a fatal shot.

Serpen reveals that they are really just androids created to protect her.
This explains previously why whenever she got frustrated with them, she would tell them to wind their screws tighter. She tries to give that order now, but he just shakes his head sadly and collapses. Loof Mellow screams his name.
Loof Mellow hurries over to Keirun and grabs his hand. He says that he can feel her warmth – the warmth of his princess – and then he dies. Again she calls out his name.
Kracken apologizes that he couldn't protect her, and then he dies.
She cries out and kneels over him.

The lights go down so they can get the dead people off the stage. When they come up again, Loof Mellow kneels down alone.
But she will not let her friends die in vain. She pulls off a knife and cuts off her ponytail. She will do what she must.
She raises her gun-sword and runs, not at the Comet crew, but at something on top of the stairs that looks suspiciously like a seal.
The royal family shot gun is the key to undoing the seal.

But, Endymion knows that if she puts the key into the altar, it will drain all her power from her... all her energy... her life.
She says she has stayed alive so that the Royal family would not die out, but some things are more important.
She gives one last long look at Endymion and the plunges her gun into the center of the seal. All the symbols around it, the symbols of the planets, light up.

Loof Mellow staggers a bit and then turns to Endymion. She says that now the world will be saved – even the future that he lives in, just as long as he promises to continue to protect the earth.
As for her, she is going to join her companions in sleep.
She quietly thanks Endymion and then with a final shout of "Sayonara!" she turns the gun and vanishes.

Now Endymion is very angry indeed. But Dark Plasman mocks him. Endymion is wounded; there isn't much he can do.
There is a shout of "Sailor Crisis Power – Make Up!"
The seal has been broken, the senshi can transform!

They all rush out into the stage to the tune of "Solar Miracle Make Up!" It's basically a "We are unstoppable when we work together" while they run around and fight against Plasman and his entourage.
Space Sword Blaster from Uranus, Submarine Reflection from Neptune and Chronos Typhoon from Pluto take care of the Jewel girls and Sailor Planet Attack stuns Plasman. He staggers towards the Moons, and then collapses on the stairs.
But a mysterious voice says that they have only beaten the shadow.
Dark Menorah comes out and puts a mask on Dark Plasman. Their comet is in two pieces, and when they united, it restored Plasman.

The kittens run in and jump in front of Plasman, but he blasts them out of the way. He doesn't need them any longer.
The kittens collapse, and their jewels start to glow. The three Jewel girls go over to them.
The kittens are... their children!

Kon, still borrowing Saturn, enters and provides plot explanation: when the Earth Empire was destroyed the kittens fell from the sky and settled on the island, waiting for them to return.
They gather the kittens to them during their next song: "Yatto Aeta Ne (We finally meet)"
Their mothers missed them so much, and dreamed of this day for such a long time.
The kittens have been calling and waiting for their mothers for such a long time.
Now that they are reunited, they will never part again.
Kukku goes with Leah Ruby, Mikku with Bilhah Emerald and Fukku with Zilpha Sapphire.
But then, the kittens collapse. Plasman hit them too hard. They couldn't take it.

While she watches the Jewel girls grieve, Chibiusa dives into her father's arms. She never realized how lucky she was.
Once again the lights go down so that they can get the dead people off the stage.

The Jewel Girls are angry. Plasman killed their children. They don't want to be on his side anymore. How could he kill three of his own?
Plasman says that they were just dust. Useless.

All three grab their weapons and rush at him, but it doesn't seem to be successful. The lights go down, they scream, and then the lights come back up and they are gone.

This has just made Sailor Moon mad. Plasman is more evil than she thought. She tells Plasman that "someone like you is not qualified to want anything."
Plasman asks why she is so strong. Why is she the owner of the Silver Crystal and not him?
The senshi tell him that he is weak because he has no heart – no love.
Plasman says that they cannot understand the loneliness of a comet, but Uranus points out that Earth is alone. It's separate from the other stars.
He isn't impressed.
Plasman says that he was abandoned by the universe in the dark. That is why he hates.

Moon points out that he treated the kittens just as the universe treated him and that the real darkness is in his heart.
Menorah grabs Sailor Moon (somehow) and pins her to the ground. Menorah is about to take the Silver Crystal from Moon's wand when a new voice joins in: "I won't let you!"
It's Tuxedo Kamen (better late than never)
He and Endymion do a double-team "Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber" and then go into their song: "And Believe in All"
There is lots of cape action, Tux has his gold cape and Endymion has his silver cape.
Tux encourages them to "believe in love" and they will succeed.

Tux and Endymion take turns facing off against Plasman and Menorah. Saturn's Silence Wall at the end of the song finishes off the job and Menorah is gone, via a trap door in the floor.
Now they just have Plasman left to deal with, and time is running out. Quartle is on a collision course with Earth.

Chibiusa calls out for help from Kon, and the spirit once again borrows Saturn's body.
Kon gives her power to Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon yells out "Silver Moon Crystal Eternal Power – Make Up!" and she slowly rises out of the floor, clad in the robe Kon dressed her in before as "Link" starts. (It's a link of love)

With a whoosh the robe is pulled away, and she's in her eternal form, complete with wings. It's time for the final confrontation with Plasman.
If they combine their hearts into one, they can create a miracle and save the world.
Sailor Planet Attack doesn't work this time, but double Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber works to stun him, and the up grade, Sailor Star Power does more damage.
Tux does his usual job of yelling "Sailor Moon – Now!"
She raises her wand over her head and she and Chibi-usa do Starlight Honeymoon Double Therapy Kiss to finish off Plasman, and he flies off the stage.
Then they stand and wait... Quartle has passed by the earth harmlessly.

The next song is "Minna dareka ni ai sareta (Everyone is loved by someone)"
Sailor Moon's power has had more of an effect than she realized, the Jewel Girls and the Kittens are revived. Now they will stay together, putting the past behind them.
Chibiusa says that she will go home and apologize to her mother.
The Jewel Girls and the kittens head off and out of the story.
Chibiusa and Endymion head home...

And the curtains go down.
