1. Assist patient to the chairs or furs beside them (a boy/girl will tend their own Master/Mistress, chain sisters/brothers help with others as needed) if conflicting orders or commands are given by Masters/Mistresses that differ from the first girls orders please post (Master/Mistress, this slave was assigned to tend so and so. Would You like this slave to attend someone else instead?)

2. If you do not know. Ask what wounds need tending remove clothing as necessary. Cover with soft fur, be careful to protect a Mistresses' modesty, put up furs or something

3. Offer kanda if pain is bad but not if the Master has to fight again as can cause hallucinations so may offer healing or willow tea instead

4. Bathe open wounds with antiseptic paga or pour on rence cloths to pat the wound clean

5. Apply layer of numbing kanda salve to the wound edges

6. If blades remain in the wound...use a rence cloth or pliers from the med kit to pull it free...inspect the wound afterwards for bleeding and fragments.use the tweezers (after dipping them in paga or antiseptic) if needed to remove them

7. Apply pressure to the wound with a repcloth to slow the bleeding.

8. Stitch as necessary. (see wound care)

9. If there is bruising or muscle strain massage with ointment and offer ice pack.

Wound Care.....detailed and severe

1. If there is any active bleeding form torn or cut veins take a cauterizing iron from the Med Kit and lay it over the bleeding vessel to sear it shut, if artery is what is bleeding (spurting blood out) then that must be carefully stitched back together first with fine curved needle and fine gut suture

2. Stitching: use small fine even stitches try not to pucker the skin, then tie off each single stitch to prevent one from being ripped and loosening others.

3. Wipe away the blood with antiseptic soaked cloth, sprinkle with green powder if needed and then layer on antiseptic kanda salve. This is all that is done for wounds that don't require stitches

4. Wounds that require stitching need to be bandaged, a thick layer of clean rep cloth wrapped snuggly with silk bandages

5. Change bandages daily for the one or at most three days for serious injury

6. Stitches are to remain dry, as healing will occur in half the time

Arrow wounds

When treating an arrow wound and the arrow is still in side the wound, do not pull the arrow out.

1. Take a paga soaked cloth and wrap it about the arrow.

2. Break the arrow.

3. If the arrow head is in an area that wound cause any damage to any Major organs push the arrow head threw and out the other side. (ie.on the side of the thigh, arm, etc..if it will hit bone do not do this.)

4. If the arrowhead cannot be pushed threw then with permission to use a scalpel, clean it with paga, then cut the arrowhead out.

5. Once the arrow head is out treat as stated above

Shock

Shock can be fatal if not treated and is often overlooked by the inexperienced. Trauma, whether it's cuts, burns, poison, allergic reaction or exposure, can induce shock. A girl should have the patient lay down, keep Him calm, elevate the legs slightly, except in the case of a head wound. Loosen any restrictive clothing. Remember the main goal is to increase the blood flow to the primary organs, in particular the brain. Keep Him warm but do not allow to over heat. The patient can have as much water He wants to drink...but remember the main thing is to keep Him calm. Don't force Him to drink

Broken bones

Types of breaks:

Incomplete: The break doesn't go through the whole bone.

Complete: The bone is broken all the way through but still in contact.

Simple fracture: The break goes all the way through the bone. The bone is separated but held together by muscle and skin.

Compound fracture: The bone has penetrated the skin.

Broken bones need to be handled by a Physcian. NEVER try to reset the bone yourself. The only thing a girl need do is to immobilize the limb or body area. On an extremity a simple splint will work. This kind of situation is a perfect example of where shock can set in without the girl realizing the problem. When splinting a limb be sure to use ample padding before applying the splints.

Burns

Types of burns

First degree burns The outer layer of skin is burned. It will be red and painful.

Second degree burns deeper burns, into the second layer of tissue.

Third degree burns can be extremely deep, doing damage to muscle and tendon.

Burns need to be kept clean and bandaged. Gently bathe the burn in clean cool water, change dressing often. Infection is a major concern of burn victims. Again burns are an area that shock is very likely. Watch the patient closely and treat for it.

Don't apply salve or grease.

Don't bathe or soak in ice water. cool water is ok.

Don't peel off dead or blistered skin.

Choking

Get behind the patient and reach around with both hands at abdomen quickly jerk back and up. in diaphragm this will force lots of air out and make the patient to cough out stuck object.
