Sumner Age 66 of West Grove, PA died June 16, 2002. He was the husband of Doris R. Dodson Sumner with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Guy was born in Oxford, PA to the late Harold R. and Vergie Carrico Sumner and had been a West Grove resident for 47 years. He was employed by Daimler-Chrysler in Newark, DE for 33 years, retiring in 1997. Guy was a US Coast Guard veteran, serving from 1953-1959 and he served 2 years in the National Guard as a sergeant. He was a member of the Highland Baptist Church in Parkesburg, PA. Survivors include 2 sons, A. Dave Sumner of West Grove, PA, Eric G. Sumner of Wilmington, DE; 2 daughters, Cynthia, wife of Eric Kerns of Martinsburg, WV, Andrea R., wife of Daniel Bove of Oxford, PA; and 9 grandchildren. His brother, Harold Sumner of Palm Beach, FL; and sister, Joanne Silman of West Chester, PA also survive. There will be a viewing from 7-9 pm on Thursday, June 20 at the EDWARD L. COLLINS FUNERAL HOME, 86 Pine Street, Oxford, PA. There will be a funeral service at 12 noon on Friday, June 21 at the Oxford Church of the Nazarene, Locust St., Oxford, PA, where friends may call from 11-12. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
