Union-News (Springfield, MA) - June 17, 1999 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deceased Name: Robert Thompson, Ludlow firefighter LUDLOW Robert J. Thompson, 49, of 18 Raymond St., died Tuesday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was a 25-year firefighter with the Ludlow Fire Department. He was appointed to the department in 1973. A lifelong resident, he was a 1967 Ludlow High School graduate and received an associate's degree in fire science and environmental pollution from Holyoke Community College. He was a Vietnam War Navy veteran and a director of the Mount Holyoke College Friends of Rowing. He leaves his wife, the former Deborah Crawford; two daughters, Shannon and Kristy, both of Ludlow; and his parents, Leo and Arlene (Mancini) Thompson of Ludlow. The funeral will be Saturday morning at Ludlow Funeral Home and St. John the Baptist Church, with burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday afternoon and evening.
