Mount Bashenga

Millenia ago, a massive Vibranium meteorite fell on Earth, in the region which would later become Wakanda. The impact and the resulting geological processes led to the formation of a mountain with depths abounding with Vibranium. In honor of the warrior-shaman Bashenga who united the Wakandan Tribes under his rule, the mountain was named Mount Bashenga.

Wakandans soon began to exploit the Vibranium deposits within the mountain, building an active mine which became known as the Great Mound. They extracted tons of Vibranium from the mountain and used it to create advanced technology, although they kept it for themselves and never shared the riches of Mount Bashenga with the outer world. A massive panther statue was carved at one of the entrances of the Great Mound.

However, Prince N'Jobu, a Wakandan spy, was sensitive to the hardships of the world beyond the borders of Wakanda. Thus, he intended to share Vibranium with oppressed people and disclosed the location of Wakanda and Mount Bashenga to Ulysses Klaue. Klaue successfully raided Mount Bashenga and stole a quarter ton of Vibranium, killing several people in the process.

Shuri's Lab was also located beneath the surface of Mount Bashenga, with a massive bay window open to the massive Vibranium supplies of the mountain. Everett Ross was taken there in order to be healed from his gun wound, and admired the depths of Mount Bashenga when he regained consciousness, realizing that Wakanda held much more important Vibranium resources than what was officially known.

Erik Killmonger, son of the deceased Prince N'Jobu, followed his father's ideas about sharing Vibranium with the rest of the world. He seized the throne of Wakanda and intended to trigger a global revolution by giving would-be rebels access to the vast supplies of Mount Bashenga. Killmonger gathered several weapons from the Great Mound and intended to send them to the world.

However, his plans were thwarted by Black Panther, Wakanda's former King who he thought he had killed. Upon being confronted by Black Panther, Killmonger order W'Kabi to kill him. As a result, W'Kabi ordered the Border Tribe to charge against Black Panther, leading to a fierce battle on the slopes of Mount Bashenga between Black Panther and the Dora Milaje on one side and Killmonger, the Border Tribe and its war rhinoceros on the other side.

While the battle raged, Shuri and Nakia went to fight Killmonger on top of the mountain, although they were ultimately defeated and Black Panther threw Killmonger and himself into the Great Mound. In the meantime, CIA Agent Everett Ross successfully took of a Royal Talon Flyer from the mountain to stop the weapons cargo sent by Killmonger.

Although Shuri, Nakia, Okoye and Ayo were cornered on the battlefield of Mount Bashenga by the Border Tribe, they were rescued by the arrival of the Jabari Tribe. Thanks to these reinforcements, the troops loyal to Black Panther ultimately prevailed and the Border Tribe surrendered. Meanwhile, Black Panther and Killmonger dueled in the Great Mound. Thanks to the Wakandan Maglev Train activated by Shuri, Black Panther mortally wounded Killmonger, defeating him.

Following the defeat of Killmonger, who saw his impending death coming, T'Challa took him outside a cave dug in Mount Bashenga so he could watch the Wakandan sunset at least once before dying.
