PGSM - Act Nineteen
Once again, Beryl feels Metellica's power as the Gateway to Darkness opens.
They walk through a doorway into a large room with a glowing purple light in the center. This is what they've been waiting for. Beryl congratulates Jadiete and Nephrite for doing a good job gathering energy. They vow to continue as they have been doing.
Beryl is happy to see them getting along.
Kunzite is curious about the princess. She's been turning up a lot lately... he wonders if she will disappear again.
Beryl asks him if he lost his memories, and looks at him searchingly.
Kunzite says that Jadiete and Nephrite are doing fine on their own, so he'll just leave them be. Then he exits dramatically.
Alone, Beryl declares that the Princess will not get in their way.
In her hotel, Minako collapses dramatically, but she pushes it away. She and Artemis are moving on once again.
Rei kneels before her fire, wondering why the Princess insists on fighting alone. It's almost like she's trying to get caught. And her direction to watch over Sailor Moon don't make any sense at all.
Rei decides that she has to become stronger - so she's not a disappointment.
Meanwhile, at home, Usagi is putting the fringe on her scarf. She has finally finished it. Although she's not sure what she's going to do with it now...
Ami is knitting in pink now. She's discovered that she likes knitting, and she's going to make a set of mittens.
Makoto isn't sure who she's going to give her scarf to. She just picked the green color that she used at random.
They discuss Usagi. They know that she's still hurt because Mamoru has a girlfriend. Neither Ami or Makoto have told Usagi that Mamoru is engaged. And none of them have told Rei anything. There's a lot of not telling each other things.
Meanwhile, Rei is asking Luna if they are really only there to protect the Princess, as the princess doesn't want protecting. Luna agrees that this is not what she expect - Artemis isn't telling her anything either.
Rei doesn't like this at all. She decides to go talk to the princess again, but Luna points out they don't know who she is.
Rei lights up - she knows.
Minako is working on Idol stuff, updating her webpage while talking to Artemis about the Enemy. He's more worried about her condition. She tells him she's fine - she has to continue to make herself bait.
He's about to say something else when she interrupts him by giving him a box of Valentine's chocolate.
He smiles cutely and goes to open it when a toy springs out and startles him. It's a jack-in-the-box. Minako laughs and gives him his real present.
Well, she can't be serious all the time, right?
As she goes to bed, Usagi stares at the scarf that she made. She still doesn't know what to do with it. She made it for Mamoru, but she can't give it to him.
The next morning, Usagi comes out to the kitchen to see a little girl sitting at the table. She's rather confused by this, as the last time she checked, she had a little brother, not a little sister.
Her mother explains, the little girl is the daughter of a friend of hers. The girl's name is Hikari.
She asks Usagi to keep an eye on Hikari and play with her for the day.
Usagi brings out a bunch of games and asks Hikari-chan to pick one that she'd like to play. Hikari doesn't want to play any games, and she doesn't want to go out. She wants help.
She's worried about Valentine's day.
At Crown, Motoki gives his turtle a jar of food. It's from Kamekichi's girlfriend. (Turtles have girlfriends) But... Motoki doesn't have a girlfriend. He's moping a bit as Ami comes in and flashes her ID.
Ami walks in to see Makoto and Rei arguing about the Princess. There is a definite lack of communication between the senshi.
Makoto finds this depressing and decides to go home.
She comes up, and on a whim, presents her scarf to Motoki. As a thank you for all the info he gave her in the previous episode. Motoki bounces around and puts the scarf on. He's so happy to have gotten a valentine present.
Usagi and Hikari have gone to the usual place one goes when upset - the mall. Hikari has a crush on a boy named Daiichi, and she wants to give him the best chocolate in the world, so that he will like her too. She's worried because Daiichi already has a woman he likes.
Suddenly Hikari stops midstep and points into a store, where Mamoru and Hina are shopping. Hina-san is the woman that Daiichi likes - she's his tutor.
Just then, Hina and Mamoru come out of the store. Hina greets Usagi and Hikari cheerfully, but you can cut the tension between Usagi and Mamoru with a knife.
The perfectly clueless Hina gives Usagi and Hikari candy, which seems to amuse Mamoru.
Hikari gives her candy to another little girl, and tosses her hair back in a determined manner. She is not going to lose to Hina.
(Meanwhile, Usagi was about to eat hers in defeat)
In the candy store, Hikari spends all of her New Year's money to buy a huge chocolate heart for Daiichi.
Usagi is impressed with Hikari's determination. She thinks that maybe she will give Mamoru the scarf she made after all, but Hikari saw on TV that it's not a good idea to give something handmade for a first present. Children who watch TV are so wise.
Meanwhile, Rei is watching a commercial for Anio Minako. Once again, Rei feels like Minako is waving a sign around saying “Here I am - come and get me!”
Nephrite has seen the commercial, and he tells Jadiete to come with him to take down the Princess.
Usagi and Hikari are encouraging each other as they head to Daiichi's house. Both girls are cuter than Hina. They can win.
But the sight of Mamoru on his motorcycle makes Usagi stop in her tracks.
The sight of Daiichi with a box tied with a bow stops Hikari in her tracks.
Both girls watch, heartbroken as Hina and Mamoru ride off. But Usagi tries to talk Hikari out of her tears, and she encourages her.
Daiichi runs out of his house over to her, as he sees that she's crying. That seems to work, and Hikari presents him with her bag of chocolate. The box he has isn't chocolate at all - it's a new game to play.
The two kids run off happily together.
Rei is hunting through a magazine for the place where Minako was posing in front of in the picture on her website. It's a stadium.
Usagi walks along dejectedly with her chocolate that she bought, when she hears a scream. A youma is running around terrorizing people in a rather frenzied manner. Usagi Makes Up and faces off against the youma.
Mamoru heard something strange too.
Somehow, Usagi and the youma took the scene change moment to go inside a large empty building with lots of windows. She throws her boomerang at the youma but all that seems to do is make it mad. After a bunch of cart wheeling around, she lost sight of the youma.
Tuxedo Mask calls out a warning and throws his cane at the youma before it can jump down on Sailor Moon. (Moon doesn't look that surprised to see him, even though he hasn't been in the show for four episodes) She uses her wand to blow the youma to bits.
Jadiete was watching. He looked mildly annoyed, but he just shrugs and vanishes. I think he was meant to act as a distraction for Nephrite.
Moon runs after Tuxedo Mask and she gives him the valentine's day chocolate that she bought for Mamoru. (I am not sure where she was keeping it during the fight.) Tuxedo Mask is surprised. He asks her if she has someone else to give the chocolate too. Sailor Moon says that she made a scarf for him, but he already has a girlfriend and she can't compete. Then she bites her tongue. Why was she telling him all that?
Tuxedo Mask quietly thinks to himself that she is in love with someone else. As she's about to leave, he tells her not to give up on her love.
As she watches him leave, Moon can't help but think how strange it is. She used to be head over heels for him, but now she's able to just carry on a normal conversation with him.
As Mamoru heads back to Hina he tells himself that he will continue to protect Sailor Moon. It's all he can do.
Tuxedo Kamen's words have encouraged Usagi as she walks home.
Meanwhile, Rei runs into the stadium. She's sure that Minako is trying to be caught - she just wants to know why. She sense the presence of the enemy, and she Makes Up at a run.
She rushes inside to see Nephrite pinning Venus to the ground with a foot.
It seems that Mars is too late.
He reaches down and removes her crown, with the large silver crystal in the center.
