It was founded as a mail order business by Dick Blick in 1911 and purchased by Robert Metzenberg in 1948. Its central warehouse and distribution center have always been located in Galesburg, Illinois. Corporate offices are in Highland Park, Illinois. Art Supplies from Utrecht featuring fine art supplies, school art. The company operates 33 retail stores in the United States, including 11 that were purchased from The Art Store in 2004. Along with Pearl Paint, and Utrecht Art Supplies, Dick Blick is one of the primary suppliers of mail order art supplies in the United States.
