You may have history beneath your feet. Artifacts & coins are just rotting in the soil. Let us save them for the future and get them recorded with the portable antiquties scheme, subject to the wishes of the landowners. The Portable Antiquties Scheme is a voluntary scheme for recording of archaeological objects found by members of the public. It was established to promote the recording of finds and broaden public awareness of the importance of such objects for understanding our past. Some artifacts and coins qualify as Treasure and are subject to the law of treasure trove....Although this is a rare accurrence , it invariably ends up with the landownwer & the finder being paid the value of the item by an interested museum on a 50/50 split. All the landowner has to do is give permission for a detectorist to spend time searching their land. Let us do the work and find your lost history.
