Cloverdale Alabama

Cloverdale is a neighborhood within Montgomery, Alabama. It is the largest garden-landscaped neighborhood in the state of Alabama.

History

Cloverdale was first designed by the Olmstead brothers from Boston in 1893. It was called "Graham's Woods" and "The Pines" before it was finally named Cloverdale. As Montgomery's Lightning Route trolley system could bring residents to and from the suburbs, Cloverdale was the second neighborhood to be included. In 1910, Cloverdale was incorporated as its own town. Clayton Tullis was the first mayor. After 17 years on its own, the town was incorporated into Montgomery in 1927.
