Bryant Alabama
Paul William "Bear" Bryant (September 11, 1913 - January 26, 1983) was an American college football coach. Best known as the longtime head coach of the University of Alabama football team, he achieved much status in the sport, winning the national championship six times, and setting the record as the all-time (up to that time) most successful coach in NCAA Division I college football, with a record of 323-85-17.

Although male-dominated families were the norm of the era, Ida Bryant was the leading figure of the Bryant family. While Paul was still a young child, his father became an invalid who was able to do only small amounts of work. In hindsight, his problems may have resulted from mental conditions, but the Bryant family did not believe in receiving medical care, a view that resulted from Ida's deeply held religious convictions.
