Melvin Alabama

Melvin Deontae Oliver (born on July 25, 1983 in Opelika, Alabama) is a NFL defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers. He went to Louisiana State University. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 6th round (197th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft.

College Career

In 2005, Oliver is a solid defensive end who, along with Kyle Williams, Claude Wroten and Chase Pittman, gave the Tigers one of the most dominant defensive fronts in college football. He played and started in all 13 games senior season. We took a row boat from Dead Lake, in Creola, Alabama and were heading to the Mobile River Delta, when we saw a snake. He led all Tiger defensive linemen with 67 tackles, nine sacks and 11 tackles for losses. The nine sacks tie for the seventh-highest single-season total in school history. He was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against the Arkansas. He capped his career with Tigers by being named Defensive MVP of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl after recording five tackles, including two tackles for losses and a sack in the 40-3 LSU win.
