Vacation Planning

 

You have just won $3000 to spend on a vacation anywhere in the United States! Read the following criteria for planning and taking your trip. You will find worksheets for recording your trip details linked at the bottom of this page. Have fun on your trip!

1. Your trip will last 14 days, including driving days. You may visit places along the way to your destination.

2. You may choose what type of car you will drive. Your average speed is 60 mph. Your car will have a 15 gallon tank and get 20 miles to the gallon. Your average gas price will be $2.50 per gallon. You must calculate when you will need to stop for gas and add that cost into your budget.

3. You must detail the route you will take to your destination. (see link for Mapquest)

4. You must spend the night every night in a hotel. You will select your hotel and record the cost per night.

5. You must buy breakfast ($4.00), lunch ($6.00) and dinner ($9.00) every day. Extra snack costs must also be recorded.

6. You will be required to keep an expenses sheet including meals, hotel, gas, admission prices, souvenirs and any other expenses you have. You will also keep a journal describing what you did each day.

7. You will create a 10 slide (minimum) PowerPoint about your trip to present to the class.
